My mitsubishi diamnte starter will not shut off

I had to disconnect the baterry or the starter would continously run. I pulled out the key switch completely then hooked the battery back up and the starter is continuing to run.

You need to remove the small single wire going to the starter, normally a push on connection. This wire is energised by the ignition switch. You will need to trace the wire back from the starter or check the ignition switch, the ignition switch should spring back whenever you let go of the key. I would start there.

I have 98 grand prix ignition is stuck in start had to pull fuel pump fuse but cant shut car off lights are still on

Suggest disconecting the battery. Then you can work on the problem. it is not clear if the issue is the key stuck in the start position in the iginition switch or if the starter motor is stuck (running) after the car starts. If it the starter motor is running... Time for a new starter. If it is the ignition switch, try
pushing the key in and turning back off. Still stuck? Try pulling pn the key and turning off. Either way, if it is the key, yime for a new ignition switch.

Run a wire directly from the (disconnected) starter solenoid wire to the (disconnected, just grounded) horn. See how it blows. If weak, it could be the ignition switch or the clutch safety switch.

Turn key many times before starter works 1997 galant

I pulled out the ignition switch and found that it was not turning quite far enough. I put some gaffer tape across the slot that turns in the switch, then pushed it back in to create a snug fit. When you pull it out you'll see what I mean. So far so good.

What is draining the battery

Someone will need to disconnect the battery and check each circuit for a drain. You may need a shop manual to get the wiring diagrams to check every circuit.
