Sounds like you have a problem with the steering rack or the pump. You will need to get this checked asap... The fact that there is movement in the fluid whenever the car is running would make me think that the pump is working and there is some kind of blockage in the pipes or in the rack itself.

SOURCE: Where is the power steering fluid unit found?

It is actually on the passengers side near the engine wall the pump and reservoir are made as one You will need a flash light follow the drive belt down past the alternator to the powersteering pump look for a black lid with a yellow steering wheel on top. The whole steering system takes only 3/4 quart of dextron automatic transmission fluid so do not over fill.

SOURCE: power steering

Sounds like a bad steering rack & pinion assembly... is it only bad in one direction or both...?
If both then it's the rack assembly... Hope this helps...;-)

try lifting the brake pedal with your toes then switching on the cc when driving. sometimes a faulty or loose switch on the brake pedal can cause cc to cut out.

Re Vauxhall Vectra 1.8 16v 1998, Power steering fluid leak from under the passenger foot well. How do I fix it?

First thing you need to do is pinpoint the source of the leak EXACTLY, clean off all the fluid and then put some fluid in the system, have someone start the car and while the car is supported securely off the ground go under and locate the leak, wear safety goggles so fluid doesn't get in your eyes.

Hi I am driving vauxhall vectra 1.8, my steering has gone so hard when i tried to turn, and at the same time ignition gone off as well... it happened to me 4 times in one drive... can u please tell me what...

If your power steering is hard, its a sign that your steering pump could be going out. but there are other

more simpler things that can cause this such as a slipping fan belt, broken fan belt, belt tensioner could

be going bad. low on steering fluid. you could also have a pulley that is going bad. good luck!

The power steering hose, goes down under the power steering pump,it goes directly down from the pump, and cuts under the engine to the rack and pinion, both hoses do.If this was helpful, please rate, thank you.
