They are too long for that head they may fit i use to see them hit in old dodge 318 wide blocks when purchasing different brand plugs measure the ends from oem equipment

"98 Volvo V70 2.4L 20 Valve no turbo. Timing jumped on previous owner bought car for steal. both cams turn freely, exhaust does have quite bit more resistance. With the timing belt off and spark plugs out...


These are interference engines. If the timing belt was never replaced and the car has over 120000 miles on it, I bet the belt broke and then the pistons hit the valves and you have trouble.

Without spark plugs in, you should be able to use a large wrench to turn the engine. If there's any resistance, you probably have a piston touching a valve.

What I would do is to remove the valve cover and possibly the cams, then with all the valves closed, see if I can turn the crank over.
You might be able to get a small inspection camera down the spark plug holes to look in the cylinders, and maybe even with all the valves closed do a leak-down test to see if the valves are sealing.

If you can get all the valves to seal, they're not bent or broken AND the pistons are sealing well (meaning, no holes in them). Then you could adjust the timing and put a new belt on it and see if it runs.

Actually - that might be the best way to start. Align the cams and put a belt on, then rotate the engine to where you can leak-down test each cylinder. Any big leaks and you have a problem.

A used engine might be a good idea, but I'd verify there's a problem first. You CAN get lucky and the belt broke when the engine was started and nothing got damaged.

How to change speed sensor


The speed sensor or crank sensor as called by other vehicles is on the rear pass side. Follow a black wire that looks like a spark plug wire. It has a connector and 1 bolt where it attaches near trans. Well known for failing and no spark.

Cuzn pulled all spark plug wires out without numbering them.. now i don't know where they go. i have a 91 volvo 740 2.3 4 cylinder.. HELP???

Here is the diagram you ask for. While it says it is for the 3.0L V6, it is the same for the 4.0L V6 if that's what you have...

Have you measured the compression? Very low compression can be the reason. And the reason for low compression can vary - broken compression ring, worn valve/valve seat... You are sure you are getting a spark, just before the spark plug, right? Have you checked the timing of ignition?

1991 volvo 240 distributor doesn't turn when engine is cranking.


I believe this a belt driven engine right? Check the timing belt.

No spark at plugs on my 1991 volvo 240


Did you replace the plugs? How hot is the spark from the coil thin and blue? if it is big and orange it is a weak coil and should be replaced. If it is good try an other wire from a different car (do not put a spark plug in it) and see what the spark looks like if good put the plug in it and check the spark again if this is a good the wires are bad
