Question about 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500HD

1 Answer

The brake lights on the cab of a 2006 chevy silverato do not work. the brake lights on the box do work fine . I do not have 12v on the wire going to the cab when the brake leaver is pressed. There is only one switch on the brake leaver that i can see .I have 12v on the switch at all times and i do get power on the white wire when i press the brake leaver . The white wire is the only wire that gets power when i press the brake . Do that white wire also feed to the brake light on the cab or is there another wire that should be getting power to supply 12v to the cab light ?

White wire feeds both and it may be connection inside roof area behind light lens bracket.

Where do i find the lamp outage module in a 2000 grand cherokee

did you scan the PCM first.
rear lights dead, not dead dash brake warning light.

check all fuses first?
the fuse is in the cab or under hood
so lets find out where, i open FSM book, and look at schematic
brake lamps
the fuse is in JB box. cab fuse box.
its marked clearly as. Fuse F23 Brakes.
the brake switch is on the brake pedal.
if the fuse is good, 12vdc on both sides.at all times.
then the brake switch is open
if its output is 0v brakes pressed.
if the output is 12v then the switch is good, and the wire
are bad, to the rear.
or both lamps burned out or both sockets bad or wires cut
from trailer hitch hacks,.

2006 F150 no brakes light all other lights work

Does this include the CHMSL ( Center High Mount Stop Lamp ) ?
The turn signals work fine when you say all other lights work ?

If so could be 2 things.
1. The BPP ( Brake Pedal Position ) Switch
1.1. The BPP has 4 wires on it
1.1.1. Tan w/ Red stripe & Pink w/ Light Green stripe are the shift interlock
1.1.2. Light Green w/ red stripe & Light Green wires are the Brake lamp part of the BPP.

sscullys_92.jpg
When you have the brake off, the Light Green w/ Red stripe wire should have power on it ( from fuse #2 ) and when you press on the brake pedal, the Light green wire should also have power.
- If only the Light green w/ red stripe wire has power with the brake on and off, and the Light green wire never has power, the BPP switch needs to be replaced.
- If the Light Green wire does not have power ( and you are use of the ground you are testing with ) fuse #2 is blown.

- The fuse for the brake lamps ( Fuse #2 in the cab fuse panel ).
-- This is if the CHMSL is also not functioning

2003 Chevy Silverado SS brake lights aren't working but top cab brake lights are. Bulbs in brake lights are working, and light up when headlights are turned on, but do not get brighter when brake pedal is...

Sounds like the turn signal flasher module has gone bad. It controls the brake lights and turn signals. It is located under the drivers side of the dash. If is a rectangular black box with a grey connector and 8 or so wires connected to it.

1998 gmc sierra-no brake lights,bulbs ok,new brake switch,possible wiring?? Help

Try this possibilities to locate the fault. First get your voltmeter or 12v test lamp out. Check the 30 amp Brake (#2) maxi fuse in the under hood junction box.Fuse should have 12v at both sides at all times.
If okay proceed.
Go to the brake light switch. The orange wire should have 12v at all times. The white wire should have 12v when stepping on the brake.
If okay, proceed.
Next thing is the brake lamp relay in the underhood fuse box. Swap the relay with one that looks just like it and recheck the brake light operation. If the relay is no good replace it.
If the relay is swapped and still not working, see if you can feel the relay clicking when someone else steps on the brake pedal.

batt is power from the maxi fuse 12v all times
sls is the white wire from the brake switch 12v with brake applied.
gnd is body ground 0v all times
mfs goes to the multi function switch 12v with relay activated
the circuit is simple—power from the brake light switch white wires turns on the relay which then sends power back to the multifunction switch for distribution to the rear lights.
if you jump terminals batt and mfs the brake lights should come on.
If you have no power at terminal sls with the brake applied then you have a wiring fault white wire between the brake light switch and the relay
Thanks. Keep updated for any more query. You can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

I have a chevy s 10 brake lights don't work

Brake light relay is bad. It is the third solenoid from the left on top of firewall under hood. If this is bad, the third (cab top) brake will still work fine, but no rear brake lights!

My third brake light dosen't work on my chevy s10 94'

I had a similar problem with my 1994 S-10 LS extended cab. Both tail brake lights worked fine. I removed the 3rd brake light cover and tested for voltage at the steel center of the two rivets and found the positive (driver side) negative (passenger side) were good. I checked the two metal strips that send power to bulbs and found the positive side was open. Seems the flared side of the rivet was not making contact with the metal strip. I bucked the rivet with a punch and hammer and it took care of the problem.

2006 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD tail lights stopped working

I am having the same problem on an 04 2500hd there isa 15 amp stop light fuse inside the cab on the side of the instrument panel and a 25 amp stop light fuse under hood. you could also have a break switch issue the switch is located up on the break pedal linkage you should have power on the white wire when you push the pedal in (check with a test light) in my case I have a broken wire along the frame rail in the harness it is a light blue wire,
