I took positive battery cable off to install new fog lights, now my remote door lock won't work, can u help me?I have a 96 Nissan pathfinder 5speed 4wd v6

Hi Ellis
Has your radio also lost it;s stations?
Dont know your model but many cars loose their security settings when you disconnect the battery. Auto electricians often place a small battery source across the Bat cables while they disconnect the Battery.
This simply holds their settings

Contact a Nissan Dealership and ask the service department?

I resently did work on my 97 gmc jimmy and took out the battery. when in got done and put the battery back nothing worked. no lights no radio no nothing. now my battery was charged and theres power going...

It's a cable issue. What type of work did you do? Anyway there are two cables coming from positive terminal, one straight to battery one to pdc (fuse block) gm has poor set up there clean retighten not too tight. Or during your work a ground was left loose or undone. Security not the problem. Turn on headlights wiggle either cable till they flicker thats where problem lies.

I have a 92' Saturn, it has almost 200,000 miles.

If you can,go to Autozone and they will check your battery and alternator for free and only takes a few minutes, also check your fusible link,it is inline with your positive cable on your starter side.To check, get meter, put red cable at starter where positive battery connects too and black cable from meter to ground near by.Should read 12 volts or more.If not reading correctly, find fusible link and replace.

The headlights wont come on. I've changed the fuse. park light work but not the headlights. now car wont turn over at all. tried jumping it & poping it. radio comes on & the inside light is...

Hi, Those have a fuse in the positive battery cable located in the middle of the cable about the center of the firewall on its route to the starter. I would check that fuse before proceeding. Also, those cables are known to go bad, My daughter had a 2000 cougar that kept draing the battery and lights wouldnt work right sometimes. Eventually it fried the alternator. After replacing the alternator and battery cable, it worked fine. Try the fuse first, If it is blown, I would recommend replacing the cable to cure the headlight problem. Mike

Get the battery recharged and have the alternator tested . Voltage at battery with the car running should be 13.5-14 volts. If the battery light came on with engine running that indicates a bad alternator .NEVER remove battery cables with engine running , tests nothing and could cause ecu failure.

I was cleaning off my batter cables and when I reattached them, my radio inside stopped working. I checked the fuse box and the fuse is fine. What should I do to get my radio working again?

You may have lost all the station settings when you took off the battery cables. Have you tried tuning the radio to different stations?

I TOOK OFF A BATTERY CABLE TO TURN OFF ENGINE

Turn the ignition to radio position and wait. This may take anything between 10 minutes and four hours, so be patient. When the radio wakes up and asks the code, punch it in.

My car wouldnt crank this morning but the lights and everything still came on. like it wouldnt even turn over.

Check the battery cables, when you turned key to crank position did the lights go out? If yes, definately battery cables if no load test battery with a battery tester to see if it is any good.

Check the battery cable ends to be sure they are tight and wont twist, I had this happen on my 96 grand caravan two years ago.
