The fan temperature sensor,(Fan switch), is activated by the cooling systems coolant. Activated by it's temperature.
It's located under the hood, passenger side, upper engine area, below the alternator, and mounted in the intake manifold.
My money, is on the fan temperature sensor being bad.

The fan switch will usually be cylindrical shaped, the bottom is made of brass, and the top has a black insulator material, with a rubber type plug on top. The plug will have two wires coming out, going into the engine wiring harness. One wire is Black, one wire is Yellow.

The fan relay is located in a relay panel. I can't tell you at present, whether it's in a black plastic box, that you remove a cover to access it, or the relay is exposed. If it's in a plastic box, under the cover it should state what each relay is for, and where they are located inside the box.

The relay panel is under the hood, on the passenger side, front engine area, on the passenger side of the radiator.

Cooling fan not turning on

Check power to and operation of the cooling fan relay. (location shown in pic) If good, then test for power to cooling fan motor. If present & motor has good ground then it's a bad fan motor. Pic is for vehicle with 2.2L engine.

Over heating fan for radiator is not working

You may have a defective temp switch that is mounted in the radiator and will look like this:

You may also have a defective fan assembly and you should test it to see if will operate with a jumper wire to the battery with the connector disconnected from the plug/power source. This is just a place to start.7e40434.jpg

What would cause my radiator fans not to run

A lot of different things fall into this senario.Low coolant level, air in the cooling system, and a stuck thermostat,or,a bad coolant sensor,or even a bad cooling fan relay,or the cooling fans are bad.Turn the defrost on or the ac,the cooling fans should come on if the fans, and the relay are ok,if so,replace the thermostat, and coolant sensor, and bleed the cooling system of air.

Is the cooling fans on the radiator 2 speeds and what controls it.

most cars would have 2 speed on their radiator fan and this is determined by the temp of the cooling fluid. The sensor which sends signal whether to turn on the fan and at what speed is found at the lower radiator hose. The relay, normally found in the boxes under the hood switches the current to deliver power.

most cars have two electric cooling fans ...one cools the engine and the other one turns on with the A/C to handle the additional heat lead.  Check the fuses and relays.
