2005 Jaguar S-Type

Hello, I am planning on purchasing a 2005 jaguar S-Type, however, I am getting mixed feedback on Jaguars from people. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated...

Are there a lot of mechanical issues with these vehicles?

Do extended warranties generally cover the common problems?

Are they extremely expensive to fix, hard to find parts etc?

I have a 55 plate 2.5 S Type. I bought it from a local Jag dealer, i had a few small problems but they sorted them out straight away. As they are not selling cars you will be able to get a good deal i would only use a Jag dealer ask for 1 or 2 years free servicing i got it. Dont buy a high milage vehicle it will cost you more in the long run. I love my car PS Get the highest spec you can ie SE plus.Hoped this helped.

What type of coolant can be used in a 2005 Jaguar S-Type air conditioner?

depending on your area depends on what rating antifreeze/coolant manufacturers recommend there own type, but anything that has anti corrosive additive in the mix. and 50/50 mix water/de-ionised water and coolant, di-ionised water is best as no water deposits. if in below temps best to do 75/25. depending on the -00 figures.

Gear box for jaguar faulty . not going into reverse

Get a jump start, with a good set of leads.

Connecting + to + Positive to Positive..

Negative to Negative --- to ----, and have your battery tested.

after being done that,if the problem still persist i will advice you check the transmission or you change the gear box.this is the most common problem on jaguars.
wish you good luck,

"No Phone" in 2003 Jaguar X-Type

I do not have my manual in front of me, but certain VIN numbers do not have the bluetooth installed in the car. I have a 2003 Jaguar X-Type and I have a phone button, but my VIN number was not in the range of jaguars that came equipped with the bluetooth. You can get a phone that has bluetooth and test to see if it finds a bluetooth device (your Car Phone Device).

The fan does not seem to put out the push of air as I increase the system. I hear what sounds like CD tracks changing type sound (best way to describe). What could be the problem?

this is going to be a blend door issue and they are electronic. take it to someone you trust and knows jaguars.they should be able to go right to the afflicted actuator and get it replaced. cheers

I need to instal a phone to my S type Jaguar

Have you contacted jaguar to be sure the car is wired?
Just because there is a phone symbol on the stereo means nothing.
They all have that.
Go to Jaguars web site and email them with you cars VIN number and ask if the car has been prewired.
they will get back to you in about in 2 days and let you know.
If it has been prewired you can get it set up for a price, if not, you are out of luck.

Missing Cell phone from Jaguar xj vanden plas

i have a 2004 xjr with the telephone armrest cradle. The problem is even though i have the factory phone it's not E911 compliant. As a result when it was accidently deactivated it can no longer have service. Be on the lookout for another phone that will fit. Good luck ---- I read on a blog that the CRAVE will work by verizon but have not looked into it yet.
