Question about 1998 Toyota Corolla
Remove set screws in shifter knob and remove,unfasten console from bracket and slide up off of shifter,you can then fasten lite harness and reverse procedure to reinstall. chris

If just the shifter light is out then it is not the fuse, the top plate of the shifter just pulls off, on some models there are 2 screws, the bulb is below that top plate.

Bulb is located under the P/R/N/D/2/R indicator. Normally you just need to remove the black plastic that surrounds sifter and indicator and has the cup holders.But the plastic may be brittle, so remove the center console. See photos.
