Sure sounds like your starter solenoid has failed.
you can remove starter and have checked at parts store to confirm and if bad then you wont have to pay core charge for replacement starter.

Your alternator is not charging the Battery, I would replace the battery with a new gel battery and have the alternator checked, bets on your battery just died.
will it start with a jump ? if it does replace the battery and have the charging system tested, if it will not start with a jump then most likely you will need to replace the starter.
make sure the battery connection are good. try a jump. it takes a lot of power to start a car. if it starts with a jump it most likely needs a battery. if the battery is good suspect the starter. the fact that the starter clicks should clear your ignition switch as a suspect.
More then likely it's going to be the starter, easy check have some one hold key at start, while you hit starter with hammer if it start's bad starter replace.
