  • Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling in SIR.
  • Remove the steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement .

    Pull the theft deterrent control module (2) away from the lock cylinder housing (1) .

  • Depress the 2 white spring loaded retainers on the ignition switch.
  • Slide the ignition switch downward away from the ignition lock cylinder case.
  • Disconnect the electrical connector from the ignition switch.

  • Installation Procedure
    1. Connect the electrical connector to the ignition switch.

    d66be6c.gif Slide the ignition switch into the ignition lock cylinder case.

  • Push the theft deterrent module (2), onto the lock cylinder housing (1) .
  • Install the steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement .
  • Enable the SIR System. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling in SIR.

  • Best way to disable SIR or airbags for this procedure is
    Remove the SIR/Airbag fuse(s) when indicated by the diagnostic procedure to disable the SIR system

    The thermostat is located behind the metal housing that is bolted to the intake manifold on the drivers side of the engine below the throttle body.

    There are 2 bolts holding the hosing on. A 13mm swivel socket and a 13mm wrench will be needed to remove the bolts.

    Sometimes it is easier to remove the throttle body if it is your first time. It will let you see what you are doing a little better.

    1. remove the air cleaner cover and hose attached to the throttle body.
    2. remove the throttle body (optional)
    3. Using a swivel socket and wrench remove the 2 bolts holding the thermostat housing from the intake manifold.

    If the engine has the required amount of oil, and you have replaced the sending unit, and the engine is knocking, I would say the oil pump has failed.
    Chances are the bearings are damaged enough to require the engine be rebuilt. You won't know for sure until someone takes the oil pan off and checks the bearings.

    this is a professsional job to evacuate, add oil and recharge the a/c system. You couls change the condensor yourself and take it somewhere to recharge the system. You DO NOT need to replace the recevier/dryer either.
