Question about Cars & Trucks
The towing mode for the transmission in the truck stopped working. Pressing the tow button on the shifter is not responding, any help?
Jim pop off the dash trim and. Then pull the tilt steering tab straight off. It's kinda hard but it pulls off. Next unscrew the Torx bits underside of steering column and remove the cover bottom. Look at bottom of shifter lever you will see an orange wire it usually breaks right there. Take it out of the clamp and soldier it back together. Don't clamp it back down it makes the wire too tight. Put it all back together.

most newer vehicles have transmission control modules, that go to a default of 2nd or 3rd gear when they go bad! I had a 91 plymouth stuck in 3rd gear because of this module! could be your problem! when mine went out, it smelled like something electrical burned inside the the passenger cabin! I would check all the electrical connections on the transmission first good luck

SOURCE: transmission tow/haul mode
Hi, the problem is when you are tilting the steering wheel all the way up it's putting to much tenstion on the wires that come outof your shifter that run to the tow/haul button. i am 99% sure your wires are disconected. rewire them and add some extra wire so next time there will be more slack in your wires.
