Question about GMC Sierra 2500

1 Answer

Truck dying i started my truck and a couple of seconds later it died and the battery light came on. I tried again and same result. So I gave it some time then tried again. It started and stayed so I started to drive. Shortly after it died again. I was able to start it and drive it back to a parking spot. It didnt make any noise when it died and didnt feel like it was loosing any power.

After reading this more carefully I see I made a bad post. I have a 93
Nissan J30 that had the same symptom. The alternator wasn't fully
charging the battery. I could go test drive it for a while and it would
soon spit and sputter and I barely made it back home. It took awhile to
find all the problems. One was an intermittent 100 Amp fuse in the
alternator line and the other was a too small and incorrect belt on the
alternator. One wouldn't expect this from a drug dealer's car I bought.
The battery voltage would drop too low to power the computors. and keep
it running good. I couldn't even find any drugs in the car either.

You will have to go to the old way of finding out where to start locating the problemm. Gas supply or ignition ( spark) problem. What was missing when it quit.? Gas or spark or water.

Iwas driving my 1999 alero n it studdered for a second. I gave it some gas nand managed to drive one block before it died. I tried to start it but it won't start it turned over but that is all it did

Look for a light on the dash that says SECURITY after it doesn't start. These cars and many more GM's have had problems with the antitheft system. Parts in the system tend to fail and cause this "no start" situation. Symptoms range from stalling while driving, to starting for 1-5 seconds and then stalling. This link might help you if this ends up being your problem.

Jerking and Dying while driving(highway)

Start with changing the fuel filter. If that doesn't do it, then change the fuel pump.
