Stalled 06 Ford Explorer in Water, now it won't start.

How deep was the water? If it was above mid way on the motor, you probably got water in the cylinders. You also may have gotten water under the distributor cap. remove a spark plug and have a helper turn over the motor as you watch for spitting from the spark plug hole. Check the spark plugs closest to the back of the truck. I hope there was no water in the cylinders - if there is spitting, you may have bent a valve - or worse! If no spitting, get some wire dryer spray from your local auto parts store, remove the distributor cap, and liberally spray the inside of the cap and the rotor, as well as they distributor plate and assembly. Give it 30 mins or so to dry out and replace cap, then try starting. If no starting, remove a spark plug and wire. Put the wire on the plug and hold with some INSULATED pliers, holding the electrode end of the plug on the engine. Have a helper start the motor and watch for a BLUE spark from the plug. If the spark is yellow or orange, you don't have enough power to run the motor and may have a faulty coil or coilpack.
Hope this helps and thanks for using Fixya!!

We took off the breather cover on a 2004 chevy trailblazer and there was water in it

Sounds like you may have a bad valve cover gasket. same thing was happening on my wife's Chevy Aveo. Valve cover gasket was worn and when I replaced it and cleaned plug wells, issue was resolved. As for the breather, I really wouldn't know why there's water in there.Only thing I would suggest there is to check your antifreeze level. Is it water from the antifreeze?

well when it rains really bad and water gets under your hood either it goes in your oil and you have to replace it or it gets in your air filter and in your engine to get the water out pull all the spark plugs and crank it untill there is no more water coming out then put the plugs back and dont forgot to change your air filter

Toyota 1993 went in deep water motor seized no water got in the motor seemes to be locked

If motor seized it got into the air intake. You should remove the spark plugs to get the water out. Turn engine over with the plug wires away from plug holes. Replace with dry plugs and try to start car and hope none of the connecting rods got bent.

Car bucks sometimes while driving on freeway

Hello Richard

These models and other similar Gm cars had issues with spark plugs developing carbon tracking down the outside section of porcelain insulator. Usually on the front three plugs. If you see these black streaks on the plugs, replace them and the ignition wires as well. If you don't do the wires it will happen again.
The spark when the car is under load on the highway will follow this track down the outside part of the plug rather than jumping the gap on the end of the plug resulting in the bucking you are speaking of.

Also it could be the beginning of ignition coil failure.

To check this out you can spray a little water mixed with dish soap on the ignition wires, spark plugs and coils. This water will help show up a weak point in the ignition system as the water is a conductor.
When the water hits the weak point your car will begin to chug and misfire. If it is dark enough you also may see the spark jumping.

I hope this helps you pinpoint your problem.
Thank you for using FixYa

My mazda etude is having water in one of the spark plugs

Remove that plug and turn engine over. Does water shoot out of the spark plug hole? Head gasket leak, cylinder-to-coolant channel side. Do you see any water vapor or actual water out of your exhaust when you first start it?

What are all of the parts needed for a tuneup for my 95 quests

Spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, and distributor rotor. If you replace all of these you would be doing what is called a major tune-up.

A regular tune-up would be just replacing the spark plugs.

You can check the integrity of the plug wires and distributor cap by spraying them with water while the engine is running. If the engine runs ruff, stall, or you see spark arcing from either the wires or the distributor cap than they will need to be replaced.

The distributor rotor always gets replaced when you replace the distributor cap.

You can also spray the coil with soapy water to see if it is leaking as well.

Removing water from a water log engine

Can be a real mess. Just how much water? Puddle or sunk in a lake. If it was lots of water, I would drain the fluids, (oil, trans, etc), refill. Pull the spark plugs out and tunr the motor using the starter. Put a towel over the holes to minimize spraying stuff everywhere. Spray some WD40 into the spark plug holes and replace spark plugs, Hopefully things will be okay after that. May have bent a connecting rod, damaged electrical components, etc. Good luck

After washing engine bay with water car wont start has no spark

The water leaks down into the spark plug holes. Remove the coil packs and spark plug wires, and sop up all the water in the spark plug hole. Leave the plugs in so water does not get into the engine. dry out the wires with an air gun, or just let dry. when everything is totally dry, put everything together and start.
