A Haynes or Chilton book will locate the gauge for you, and also give schematics for the whole system

Sounds like the wiring harness connection in the back of the speedo cluster is loose. This will cause crazy reading and the vehicle will perform like normal... sound about right??

Went to try and install a stereo, now all the gages on my dash won't work, such as speedometor, fuel, temperture and tac gages. What possibly can be wrong?

Have you checked all the fuses??
or it could be that you have pulled on the wiring loom a little to much and unplugged something double check all plugs and fuses see if that helps

Temp gauge is bouncing up and down on my 99 toyota 4runner.I think its a loose connection but i dont know where the wires are for the gauge. can u help?

Look under the hood. I think it is unlikely to have something loose under the dash, unless some work has been done under there lately. Get a helper to watch the gauge, while you wiggle wires......The wire involved in the temp circuit is small gauge.... push and pull on all wiring that you see, while the helper watched the gauge...

Dash gages do not work.,have checked fuses. Speedometer does not work either

All dash gages, including the speedometer are powered by the same fuse. Since it's intact then the problem is in the wiring loom in the dash - a connection is loose. The dash must be dismantled to access the wiring loom for testing - check every connector and every wire until you find the broken one.

The odometrer, speedometer, gas gage are not working

Has anyone had the dash out? If you take the dash out there is a cable connected to the odometer and the speedometer it is just one cable. And some wires going to the gas gage. Check and make sure the cable is connected all the way. The gas gage may also be disconnected somewhere but there could be different problems that cause the gas gage to be disabled. !Never touch two wires at the same time!

Temperture gauge

It's either a loose wire on the sending unit, or the sender itself. Or i suppose it could even be the gauge, but i'd bet on the one of the other 2.

Lights started flickering battery light came on Dash lights and gages went crazy now wont start

Like you said, battery may be flat. You can check that with a multimeter.

Next check the alternator. Faulty alternator leads to uncharged battery.
