Fuel supple issue-as shown be replacing fuel filter and seeing an improvement-next thing to try- put a new fuel pump in- Denny

Posted on Nov 28, 2013

Testimonial: "would this possibly be a pressure regulator going bad seeing as it is vacuum operated and there is no metering rail pressure sensor if that was going bad it would not throw a cel or would fuel pump be only possible problem?"

This could be a number of things but i think that your problem sounds like a vacuum leak or an EGR problem. Try listening for leaks and try un-plugging the EGR solenoid valve one time.

i think if you checked the sparking plugs and map sensors then check your distributer its maybe not delivering the current nedded to perform the spark to some of the cylinders

Fuel delivery problem, or bad vacuum leak at gaskets, or vacuum hoses causing terrible fuel-air mixture. You will need a repair manual to be able to read codes and understand the ECU error codes, but it may help you understand the issues.

I have a 99 Tahoe with no engine light stalled no fuel pressure installed new fuel pump assy. starts and runs fine at idle. but falls on face under acceleration. HELP

Have you checked base fuel pressure with a gauge ? You could have been sold the wrong pump, or the inline filter may be clogged.

The truck sometimes barely starts. then once it does, it idles fine. but when you give hard acceleration, it falls on its face. not the fuel pump or the filter, and definately not spark. its a 96 chevy 350...

Lets go back to the fuel pump. I am working on one now that has the same symptoms. It turns out it is the fuel pump. Still pumping fuel, just not enough pressure. Hard start, idles fine give it some fuel and dies. One other thing that I can think of that will do this is clogged catalytic converters.

Hi. I'm working on an '02 impala,3.8L.It has 4 dtc's; P0134B, P01106C, P01107C, and P0102B.the car idles smoothly,though a little fast,I think.when you try to accelerate,it hesitates, stumbles, and falls...

Sounds to be a faulty TPS sensor (Throttle position sensor ).02 sensor (Oxygen Sensor will have kinda same affect but not as bad...>>>Hope this helps.................metalpoet

2002 GMC Sierra 6.0 Liter, 140,000 miles. When outside temp is below about 50 degrees and the vehicle has sat it idles to almost 2000 rpm right after starting and then falls on it's face to about 500 rpm. ...

I would look into the coolant temp sensor .
As it sounds to me that the auto enrichener (choke) is letting go too early.

Check that , and let us know what you find !

2006 F250 Super Duty starts fine no lights or problem however recently it started to miss at idle and around 2000rpm. Oil changed this week and has proggressively gotten worse and now idle is very rough...

I'm not sure of engine liter size? How long since a tune-up? I always check for codes, even if lite isn't on. Some of the national brand auto stores will check codes for free, if there are any, just tell them your lite has been going on and off.
Use a gage and check proper fuel pressure. I can give you fuel pressure spec because I don't know liter size of engine? Some vehicles don't have Schrader valve on fuel rail, which makes checking fuel pressure a little awkward.
If you have electronic returnless fuel system, you have a fuel pressure sensor, hopefully on the fuel rail. The yellow wire should be for fuel pressure, engine idling, use digital multimeter on yellow wire. 3 volts = 43.75 psi. 2 volts about 20 psi less. 4 volts about 20 psi more, so you get the picture.
The basics for a rough idle, check for a leak of some kind, fuel--egr--vacuum leak.

1999 Gmc Sierra has no power

Sounds like the fuel supply is inadequate. Check for a plugged fuel filter, or possibly the fuel pump is losing pressure. I had a 93 Chevy V6 that acted the same way, and after checking everything else I replaced the fuel pump, which solved the problem.
