try taking apart and cleanig all contacts first. make sure you are getting power to switch. Sounds more switches are going bad. They usually last about 5 to 7 years before they start going out.

How can I open a jammed passenger door to a 1992 Ford Tempo

There are a few ways to look at this. One is that the door handle is not connecting to the lock mechanism, another that the lock mechanism is broke and both the key will not turn anything and the door handle mechanism is connected to a broken lock; third is that the seat belt strap is caught in the lock.

If the last problem is the cause, sometimes a slight change in body weight will give clearance at door seams. Honor the jack locations and only jack the vehicle at those points. Wheels do not necessarily have to leave the ground, but the idea is to spread the door seams wider to get room.

A tool called a "slim-jim" can aid in opening the door if the control rods inside the door are faulty.

Door panels are hard to remove if the door is closed.

If possible, a trip to a salvage yard will help. Some let the customer go into the yard and look and work on the salvage vehicle. You can see what is involved by looking at a salvage vehicle.

Driver side door jammed shut

Not to my knowledge. The mechanism you talk about is the wiring inside the door if it has electric locks. The only way is to remove the top of the door panel to access the door latch mechanism then slide it away from the latch. If that don't work let me know

Passenger door lock wont work and cannot even pull or push the unlock mechanism

You will need to remove the door panel and replace the electric door lock motor in the bottom of the door, they get water in them and jam from rust.

Several times I have opened either of the two rear passenger doors, and then I am unable to close them. The latching mechanism won't allow the doors to close.

Usually the only time the lock changes to the closed position when the door is open is when you brush yourself or something against the lock mechanism.

Passenger door will not open

I can think of two possibilities:

1) The electronic lock is malfunctioning and forcing the door to lock. From the inside of the car, try forcing the lock to the 'unlocked' position. If you can do this with your had, but it 'snaps' back to 'locked' then it's an electrical problem. Possibly the lock solenoid itself, or the BCM.

2) If you cannot force the lock to the 'unlocked' position, then it's some sort of mechanical problem - maybe the lock is just jammed. Try spraying oil into the locking mechanism from the outside and working the lock until it's free. Otherwise, remove the interior door panel and diagnose the mechanical lock.

Sliding door fails to latch

There is no "switch". The Sliding Doors should be manual anytime you try to open or close them. If not: then there is problem in the electronic system or the physical/mechanical side where something is jamming the door from opening or closing.

The locking mechanism on the rear passenger door isnt working. The door will close but the metal catch will not lock. How do i repair?

I have seen some times the latch assemblys get rusty or dirty and the inside or outside door handles are pulled and the latch assembly siezes in the open position not allowing the door to latch closed..but this may not be the case .. check to see also if the child lock switch position is not stuck in the halfway position, also check if the latch has not flipped to the close position before the door was closed thus jamming the striker latch..this can be fixed by pulling the catch out while opening the door handle..hope this helps good luck...

Can't open driver side door

I dealt with a similar problem a few weeks ago. In this case the lock mechanism had become jammed and the lock knob would not come up resulting in the door not opening form either side. To free up the mechanism get a can of WD40 and with the little tube between the window rubber direct a spray into the general area of the lock (have window up). Do this from both sides of the glass to make sure you get the area. Let it soak in for a while and then jiggle the lock using the key and alternatively lift the knob until it is free. If this fails you can remove the door liner on the other door and to see exactly the mechanism works. To remove the liner, remove any cover caps which cover the screw heads on the armrest etc, remove the spring clip holding the door handle and then use a flat scraper blade to gently lever off the door lining having the flat blade as close to the press in fittings as possible. You usually need to have the door open to do this.
