I am replacing the rotors on a 2011 Land Rover LR4 and I am looking for the caliper bolt size and torque setting.

Hole with notches is likely a torks screw Looks like an allan key hole with extra splines? they make a bit that fits in there. It's on the flat surface where the wheel mounts right?

The small bolts holding the caliper to the bracket are 20 ft/lbs
The larger bolts holding the bracket to the hub are 79 ft/lbs

SOURCE: abs light on in land rover

I have spent way too much money trying to get the 3 amigos to go out...ABS light, TC light and downhill descent. I have decided to try and ID the wires that go to those particular dash lights and cut them. I am tired of this ****. Landrover told me three different things that may cause this issue and told me to start with the least expensive one first! Go to hell, Landrover. I will NEVER buy another Landrover product. Which wires can I cut?

31 ft lbs for caliper to bracket, then caliper bracket to nuckle is.148 ft lbs for 6400 & 7200 lbs GVWR or
122 ft lbs for 9900 lbs GVWR or
221 ft lbs for 12300 lbs GVWR.

On my 1996 land rover seems like my front driver brakes are loosing the senor how can I tell for sure?

Check this procedure...
1. Check wheel lug nut torque and tighten evenly to specification.
2. Check the brake rotor for trueness and thickness variations. Replace the rotor if it is too thin, warped, or if the thickness varies beyond specification. Some rotors can be machined; consult the manufacturer's specifications and recommendations before using a machined brake rotor.
3. Check the brake caliper or caliper bracket mounting bolt torque and inspect for looseness. Torque the mounting bolts and inspect for wear or any looseness, including worn mounting brackets, bushings and sliding pins.
4. Check the wheel bearing for looseness. If the bearing is loose, adjust if possible, otherwise replace the bearing.

Before Removing the Brake Rotor from the vehicle it should be tested for warpage.

Use a Dial Indicator for checking to see if the rotor is warped. Anything over .003 can be felt as pulsation in the foot pedal as it double when you add the other side of the rotor and then add the opposite rotor. Replace rotor If it reads over .003

I have a 2001 land rover discovery II and I need the torque settings so I can put the engine back togather. Im not sure how tight to tighten the head cylinder bolts or the manifold bolts.

Do not reuse the old head bolts. These are torque-to-yeild type bolts and stretch when torqued down.

Starting in the center and working your way outward:

1st step - 15 ft-lbs

2nd step - 90 degrees

3rd step - 90 degrees

I have a 2000 Passat and going to have my friend replace the rotors and breaks. I am preparing to fix it but want to know what sizes are the bolts for the calipers sliding pins. If you know the Bolt s

For a wrench or for the acctual bolt size.
To remove front need 8mm allen socket to pull the caliper guide pins, then 17 or 18mm..To remove rear need 13mm socket for lock bolt on guide pins and 15mm open end wrench (thin section to hold guide pin while you remove lock bolts..I ground down a spare wrench). You DO NOT have to remove rear carriers to change rotors..just remove lock screw and angle rotor out. The B5 Passats don't have the electronic parking brake so you don't need VAG Com to change pads.
Installation tips:
Clean and regrease the guide pins with "synthetic caliper grease"
Rear lock bolts come with preapplied thread locker and "are not to be reused"..I just wire brush the threads and use some Loctite Blue on em. I smear just a little antisieze on the inside bore of the rotors and on the lock screw threads to prevent corrosion and make next rotor change ez. Torques:
Front caliper guide pins:18 ft lb
Front carrier bolts: 89 ft lb
Rear guide pin lock bolts:26 ft lb
Wheel lugs: 89 ft lb

Torque setting for grand am rotors

The rotors are not bolted to anything, they are sandwhiched between wheel & hub. Therefore there is no specification for them. Caliper bolts are 38lbs if that's what you were looking for.

Changing Brake Pads on a 2004 Range Rover

uh... software, pistons, abs??? this guy definately does not know car mechanics. brakes are all mechanical and the abs system has nothing to do with the brakes directly.

To compress pistons, there are two steps. one, open brake fluid reservoir cap to allow easier compression.
two, turn hub assembly outward toward you so you can see the pad and caliper. insert large flat head screwdriver between pad and rotor and pry slowly towards the piston. adjust when needed to keep pressure in the center of the piston.

there are two allen "hex" key bolts, hidden under plastic caps. loosen those and remove. These are the slider bolts that the calipers float on. remove the calipers. there are two 16" bolts that hold the caliper bracket to the hub. remove those to remove the rotors.
