Turn key ,won't turn engine, lights stay bright, jump with spare battery car starts no prob

Check connection of battery terminals to it's related cables. Try using one of the jumper cables to connect negative of battery to chassis.if still fail, try connecting to engine block. If fail, try recharging/replacing battery. Lights may stay bright but battery may mot have enough amperage to turn starter motor.

Just clicks will not start

Flat battery of defective solenoid. Turn your headlights on and try and start the car. Do the lights dim to a glow worm? The battery is flat and needs recharging with a car battery charger.

If the lights stay bright, you need the starter replacing or refurbishing.

I have A 1994 Caprice Classic that starts and runs but the dash doesnt work when i turn on my headlights. It also has this thing where i cut it off,go back the next day and it wont start.Could it be the...

If the oil pump fails, the engine will seize in minutes so it isn't likely the problem. Removing the negative (black) battery terminal first, clean the battery terminals and clamps. You can buy a cheap tool at any auto parts store for this. If, after the battery is reconnected (negative last), it still doesn't consistently start, then the terminals at the starter may need cleaning or the negative cable termination at the other end from the battery.
These points are very sensitive to corrosion and any even small resistance can cause hard starting since the starter draws over 100 Amperes and at only 12 volts, any bad connection can cause a problem.

Car wont start, doesn't even turn over. battery is good though, boost does not work. think it might be the starter?

Its a good bet. Be sure the battery connections are good too.. Flip on the headlights and then try to start it.. have someone watch the lights.. If they go dark. You have a bad battery or bad connection. If the lights stay bright then you need to look at starter connections/starter/starter solenoid.

1989 chevrolet caprice alternator draining battery, and wont start. We replaced the alternator, feul pump, battery, & starter.

There is a circuit staying open that is draining the battery. Chances are it is the ignition switch or the starter relay. Most likely it's the ignition switch. If it stays open the starter circuit continues to draw power even though the car is off. It's under the dashboard above the gas pedal. Someone should be able to test it with a circuit tester to see if it's the problem. Good luck!
