Volvo washer fluid pours out into engine, doesnt spray

The washer fluid in my Volvo s40 doesnt spray onto the windshield, the fluid pours out onto the ground. I can hear the pump working, I am not sure if it is maybe a hose leak.

Open the engine cover bonnet as we say in the uk. look to the back of the bonnet you will see the rubber hoses that fit into both the nipples for your washers .refit the hoses.

I have the same problem with my '06 Spectra 5. I haven't noticed the knocking sound though. The weird thing is my rear window washer works fine which leads me to believe that the washer pump is still OK but what do I know :D

SOURCE: power steering hose cme off causing atf leaking

If the hose clamps onto the rack & pinion, get a new clamp (replace the hose too,its probably worn)Reinstall it.fill the p/s resovoir, start the car (when the fluid gets low,add more fluid)It will make moaning noises.Just make sure the new hose isnt leaking.Turn the steering wheel back & forth a few times, top off the fluid, turn the wheel again, you should be ok.If the hose bolts on to the pump, you will need to change the hose with a wrench.(fluid replacement is the same way.

first check the tubes to make sure they are not off and if they are connected then take a straight pin and poke it into the little holes where it sprays out

SOURCE: Washer fluid and a sticky unlock on back door

Look under the heat blanket under your hood. There are plastic connectors that feed the fluid from tubes up to the nozzles mounted on the hood. On my car the plastic connectors are broken so the tubes are just hanging out in the wind :-) This also causes a vacuum issue so the spray on the back window suffers as well.

I am looking for a replacement currently. If you find anything let me know!!

2006 volvo s40 2.4I. Where is the ECT(engine

    • 1 Open the engine hood by pulling the hood release latch located on the lower kick panel on the driver's side of the Volvo S40. Lift the hood up and prop it on the hood prop.
    • 2 Locate the steering shaft that extends from the firewall to lower suspension located inside the engine compartment, by the front right wheel. Halfway down the shaft, you will locate the power steering pump. The pump is a black container that bolts to the driver's side of the engine block. On the top, you will find a cap that says "Power Steering Fluid."
    • 3 Look to the left of the cap. Bolted to the power steering pump is the thermostat temperature sensor. The sensor has a black round cap and a black wire extending out of the top.

Volvo xc90 windshield wiper fluid will not spray

Ah---I had this problem. There's a plastic T connector that connects the hoses to the spray nozzle. Looks like a cap popped off and fluid was spraying into the engine compartment. Taped it with electrical tape as a temporary solution---leaks, but sprays until I can get a new T connector.

The washer nozzles have two small metal pipes that the fluid comes out of. You can stick something in the end of it like a pick or toothpick and GENTLY and in small incriments adjust it where it needs to be.
