UNPLUGGING THE BATTERY WILL SET THE ALARM OFF AGAIN, USE THE KEY TO LOCK AND UNLOCK THE DRIVERS DOOR, THIS SHOULD RESET THE ALARM, IF THAT DOESN'T WORK DO THE PASSENGER FRONT DOOR, IF NEITHER RESETS THE ALARM U HAVE WHAT IS CALLED A HARD FAULT AND THE CAR MUST GO TO VOLVO FOR SPECIAL TESTING, THEY ARE THE ONLY ONES THAT HAVE THE SPECIAL ELECTRONIC TEST EQUIPMENT TO TEST THE ALARM AND SEE WHERE THE PROBLEM IS, ANY OTHER SHOP WOULD JUST BE GUESSING, THAT CAN GET VERY EXPENSIVE VERY FAST.

Why volvo s60 2002 start and shut off spark after 2 seconds? Does alarm (siren) cause this?

Volvo security systems will cut off power to the starter motor if triggered. Sounds more like you have a bad crankshaft sensor or camshaft sensor. They are what triggers the ECU to turn the coils on and off. Alarm is NOT your problem.

I have a bad feeling. I own a Volvo SW XC70 and I had to change the timing belt because I didn't want to have to buy a new engine. I changed it at around 150K miles. The belt is a composite and is not a chain (metal), so it can stretch, thus giving you "bad" timing and making it impossible to tune. If you have not checked or changed the belt, try it. It really won't cost that much (depending on where you take it. I went to Volvo. Good luck.
DON'T DRIVE THE CAR UNTIL YOU ARE SURE.

Be nice to say what the problem is. To help you with a problem state the make year and model of the car the engine size the things added since new that could possibly effect the problem ( aftermarket radio or alarm system) and the country that the car was sold new in. ( you can be in any country in the world with internet) State the complete probelm and anything that you might already have done to try to fix the problem. Volvos are made in Sweden, and many of them have been sold in the USA and I'm familiar with them so ask anything about them you like.
