Have a fault code done to check the transmission for faults. Sometimes you will have to accelerate a bit as there is not always enough energy produced in the torque converter at idle to hold the car steady on an incline

I just bought a 2010 buick enclave cxl and on slight incline in drive will roll back. ? Its like the rpms arent where they should be. I don't think the weight should pull it back so much. Thanks

The parking brake is the way to stop it rolling back. Idle RPM are set and have no bearing on how the car rolls back. apart from if you increase the revs, the car will move. The proper procedure on an incline is to apply the parking brake, put the vehicle into drive, increase the revs and take off the parking brake. Just like we did in the old days when we had manual gearboxes :>)

Sounds like a part called a parking "Pawl" is hanging up. You could try to park the way they show you in driving school, with the rear of the tire against the curb when the car is facing uphill. Theory is that the tire will chock the vehicle against the curb as a bumper stop and prevent rolling backwards. This will minimize pressure on the inside of the transmission parking pawl.

You can go to aboutautomobile.com and search for "Consumer complaints" or Recalls and enter your vehicle info. Then see if others are having problems like yours.

If I were you I would take it back to the dealer and tell them your concerns. They may have quick simple fixes that will take care of it. A good dealer will want to make you happy and will do what it takes especially on a brand new car.

Sounds like you have a fuel issue. It could be a fuel pump cutting in and out. It could be fuel pressure regulator, or an injector not spraying correct. I think it's time to find an honest educated repairman.

Gear question

Assuming this is a standard transmission, you always have it in 1st gear. Roll back is controlled by balancing the clutch with the gas pedal.

If an automatic transmission, then the vehicle should hold itself on the incline, unless it is a steep incline, to which you may use the gas pedal to hold the vehicle on the slope, and not the brake. And you would always have the transmission in the main drive gear position.

I HAVE A 2001 AZTEK AND WHEN ON AN UPHILL INCLINE STOPPED, YOU MUST KEEP FOOT ON BRAKE OR VEHICLE WILL ROLL BACKWARDS

This is normal, depending on the depth of the hill. This is frequent with standard/manual cars on uphills, they can roll back, but with automatic vehicles they usually have a small amount of throttle, (you'll notice this when putting your vehicle from park into drive with your foot off the break, it'll start slowly moving forward)
Now on the hill, if it's a steep incline your car will move backwards, it all depends on how high your throttle (the car itself) is, and the incline depth of the hill.

1991 Chevy Silverado Rolls while in Park

Hi, This looks like the Pawl in the gearbox has been broken/damaged or even left out when the box was overhauled.
It lock the gearbox whilst in park so acting like a brake.
It could have occurred if someone put the vehicle in park whilst still moving.
Hope this helps?

Same problem in my friends 2008 model ...felt like the brakes were on when driving in 4wd mode ...i.e when backing out of the drive way ...it may have something to do with the transfer case creating more drag ..(it is always good to disengage the hubs .....I live in Central Australia and only use 4wd when towing someone out of trouble)
