See the diagram attached. YOu must test the mechanism for lube, or damage parts, loose wires or connector corroded, switch dirty Lube WITH wd-40, test the motor or solenoid
God bless you

SOURCE: 2004 cts cadillac trunk will not open with remote

if you here a clicking sound when you push the remote or the drivers button then the solenoid and fuse are probably o.k. lubricate the trunk lid catch and operate the latch a few times, also check the tension on the trunk itself , it should lift up part of the way by itself, if not 1. lubricate the hinges and move trunk lid up and down. if still bad 2. if it has a tension rod adjust the rod to a stronger setting if it has gas shocks, 3.replace shocks. if no click and fuse is good solenoid may be bad

SOURCE: 2004 cts cadillac trunk will not open with remote

Check fuse.. Test for power to trunk release solenoid. When door button, or remote trunk release button is pushed. If there is power ( use a 12 volt test light ) most probably faulty release . Hope this helps

2002 Cadi Deville, can't get any locks to operate with remote or dash push buttons, the remote operates everthing but the locks! When the remote door lock is pressed, lites flash, horn blows locks not.

Power Door Lock Operation
The vehicle is equipped with power door locks. Each lock actuator is powered and controlled by the door module mounted in the individual door, but the rear integration module (RIM), which is the master control for the door lock system, determines when the lock functions are permitted. The RIM receives and examines the requested lock function from the individual door modules, or from the remote function actuator (RFA) via the class 2 serial data circuit. The RIM also examines the transmission shift selector position and the ignition switch position information available over the Class 2 serial data circuits. If the RIM determines that a lock or unlock function is permitted, it sends a class 2 message back to the individual door modules commanding them to perform that Lock or Unlock function.

My door lock is not working on my cts 2008 rear door.

I had a similar problem with my driver's door on my 2009 CTS. It would work sometimes, then finally not at all. The key fob wouldn't work, nor the electric switch inside. It could only work manually or with the key.
Mine ended up being the lock/latch actuator inside the door.
I got one on e-bay and replaced it myself. $150? Probably a $300+ job at the dealer.

There were a bunch of them on ebay. This is a clue that there is a real problem with these.

It'll look something like this:

2006 Cadillac STS driver side door lock doesn't activate when I approach the car (as it's supposed to). Key fob also doesn't activate the lock or unlock features. All other doors and trunk operate...

It actually sounds like the micro switch in the drivers door that reads the key fob is bad, if the key works and the fob works on the other doors and the trunk. You will most likely need to have the door handle replaced, they're not very expensive by themselves but it can be a lot of work. All my remotes won't unlock passenger doors, why?

this is a problem that can appear after your car battery died, cause the car didn't reset propely, so taking the battery out and putting it back in or letting your car die again would do the trick. I tried a lot of reprogramming procedured for my remote key, none of them worked, what did the trick though was simply unlocking the doors via the all door unlock button on the passenger side door, so simple.

Remote control won't lock/unlock doors, but will open the trunk. What;s wrong?

There is a fuse box under the right rear seat cushion behind the driver. In that box is a 10 amp mini fuse marked "TRUNK DR RELEASE". That is the fuse that powers your remote receiver. If that fuse is good, the receiver may have failed. To remove the seat cushion, pull the front of the cushion up and then forward.

if you are hearing clicking noise but the door won't open then the door lock actuator is not releasing the lock. not uncommon problem ,but the car is still new. most of the time this type of problem starts after 5or6 years. I hope your car is still under warranty.

2008 Cadillac CTS-passenger side front door wont open from outside? Any suggestions?

Nope - nothing to do with any of that - mine does it periodically - front door, back doors --- it;s the computer that's running it all. Ive had an STS and a late shape CTS- - beautiful cars but ***** reliability. shame. Anyone want a RHD 3.6??

I have a 2005 CTS cadallic And I cannot open the trunk with my remote or my button oin the drivers side door panel. What do I need to do?

Open the trunk manually. Pull down the back seat armrest and open the door for trunk access. There is a yellow handle that is above the door, pull the handle and the trunk will open manually.
The remedy for your problem is probably the fuse that runs the solenoid to the trunk opener, it is found under the rear seat passenger side. It has a black cover over it, remove the cover and find the corresponding fuse.
