There is a pin located on the gear select pin on the transmission side. (the piece the shift cables attach to) the wrist pin is most likely sheared. I have had the same problem.

Are the lights bright enough so that you feel it is not the battery?By won't crank you mean that you get no click click click like the battery is dead I am assuming.If it isn't the battery,locate the starter.If you aren't sure where it is,can't find it etc.,call any shop,they will tell you for free someone will because they want business.Tap on the starter with a hammer a couple times then try and start it.Not too hard,not too soft.It may take several tries but it should start eventually.If that works it's your starter (obviously).If that doesn't work,feel free to write back and we'll figure this out.Good luck!

Try a can off Sea Fom for automatic trans you can get it at any auto parts store add it to your trans and start your car let it warm up the drive it and manly shift it through all gears 5 or 6 times them let it do it it's self
