it's noy a new one, it's from the same year make and model jeep as mine. The ECM was working because the jeep it came off of was drivable it was just rusted out. It's also not the ECm.. it's most likely the CPS. So I will start with that and hope that is the cause

As I said in your last question, there are very few reasons you need to go near it. A good auto electrician with a professional grade scan tool computer can diagnose the ECM for faults in about 20 to 30 minutes. It is not a job for 'let's try changing this'. If it is bad, a new one needs a tech to install as it has to be programmed with the VIN Number and mileage and set up.

Fuel pump failure. Have someone open your gas cap an listen closely while you try to start the car. Your listening for a buzzing noises, if no noise pump has failed, very weak noise not enough pumping pressure to start the car. All 'n All "FUEL PUMP FAILURE"
Is it fuel injected or carb??? Try holding the gas pedal to the floor while turning the jeep over. This sometimes makes gas pump thru to the cylinders. Have you changed the fuel filter???? I know alot of jeeps have a fule filter with a bypass back to the tank, and sometimes the filter will be bypassing to the tank instead of the the motor. Check it out?????
