Unplug it, and run a wire to your positive battery post, and another to a good ground, and it should go.

Where is the blower motor resister located in a 2000 cavaler?

Under the dash, on the passenger side. Pull the kick panel, you will see the blower motor. Behind it, next to the fire wall is the resistor. Only thing back there with an electrical plug.

Might just have been the right time for the fan to burn out. Buy a new one, junkyard parts are another option, but make sure you test it before you buy it.
