SOURCE: parking brake pedal goes to floor

The disc brake pads are NOT used for the parking brake. The parking brake uses mini-drum type shoes inside the rear disc rotor.

SOURCE: Brake Pedal goes to the floor in my 1990 Chevy C1500 Scottsdale

do you have a self bleeder kit? first off, you have to bleed the master cyl back into its self and the combination valve before you go to the wheels. when you do that, I think you will find that you have air in the lines. disconnect both brake lines from the master cyl and put the bleeder kit fittings on the master cyl, then put the rubber tubing with the kit on the fittings and submerge it in the brake reservoir. make sure its full. then pump the pedal until you get a hard pedal. if that is the case, reconnect the lines to the master, then have an assistant pump up the brake pedal with the engine off, and bleed the combination valve which should be connected to the master by steel tubing. pump it up, then hold it down, and crack the fittings loose, one at a time until the pedal goes about half way down, but do not release the brake pedal until the line is tight again, otherwise you will **** air in the lines. after you do all that, go to the farthest caliper or wheel cylynder from the master and bleed that with the same technique, and dont release the pedal until you close the bleeder screw. unless you have a major prob, this will work.

SOURCE: brake pedal dropping to floor

do u have the antilock brake bleeding tool? if not you will need to have the dealer bleed the brakes, the ABS control valve must be electricaly held open to bleed the brakes there of course is a special tool for this.

SOURCE: how to bleed the brakes on a1999 chevrolet venture

Start with brake in the rear that is the farthest away from the master cylinder ( if your master cylinder is on drivers side start with passenger rear, pump up brake pedal until hard have someone else open bleeder valve until air or fluid squirts out, while holding brake pressure even if goes to the floor dont release pedal until bleeder valve is tightened or you will **** air back into the line,do this several times making sure you get a full stream of brake fluid and no air, continue to other rear wheel and then proceed to front wheel furthest from master cylinderand then final wheel. if you still don't have brakes change master cylinder and bleed all brakes again.

I can go from park to drive without using the

Uuuh... No. There is an electrical link between the brake pedal and the transmission to prevent that from happening.
1. It keeps kids from pulling the lever out of park when they are too small to reach the pedals (first hand experience with that one back in the 60's!).
2. It keeps grownups from pulling it into gear with the engine revved up and crashing into things in parking lots and driveways.
3. Transmissions go from Park to Reverse, Neutral, then Drive. Without the brake on, there would be lots of excessive shocks to the transmission.

My 1994 astro van pulls to the right when I hit brakes.

It sounds like your having an issue with a caliper.I recommend taking your tires off and inspect your brake pads the way that they are wearing can tell you allot. If there wearing uneven where the front or back pad is wore more than the other it could possibly be the caliper sticking. But you definitely need to look at your brakes.

2000 astro van tailights not working

Fuse or short. If both went out then a short. Check brake pedal assembly wiring from there back to lights. If lights stayed on then it's the button assembly (physical) that's apart of the pedal assembly but that's not the case if off altogether. I had MANY shorts with the Astros I've owned although I do love Astros.

1996 astro van brakes are mushy. Is there a

I have the same Astro and the same problem. It has surprised me to learn that it is the read drums that are the culprit - shown to me by my local Les Swchab. For some reason they build up with dust and do not grab properly. So the solution would be to use a rear brake shoe that is superior to the type that Les Schawb uses!!! A type that produces less 'dust'.

When I step on the brakes in my astro van it dives to the side. It does't stay straight, you have to steer it straight when you hit the brakes.

IF THE VAN IS PULLING TO ONE SIDE DURRING BRAKING THE SIDE IT IS PULLING TO IS THE GOOD SIDE THE OTHER SIDE THE CALIPOR IS EITHER NOT WORKING OR HUNG UP, WHAT I WOULD DO IS REMOVE THE WHEEL ON THE SIDE THAT ISN'T PULLING AND CHECK THE CALIPOR SLIDES, IF THEY LOOK GOOD AND SEEM TO BE MOVING FREE THEN I WOULD REPLACE THE CALIPOR. HOPE THIS HELPS GOOD LUCK
