If it is running as rough as you say the check light should be on or even on and blinking, have the system scanned for fault codes to see what shows up. Any auto parts store will run this fault test for tree like Autozone or Oreilly.
Code 11 crankshaft position sensor or Camshaft position sensor. Code 21, Ignition Signal, Diagnostic Tree . Best to take to dealer for repairs and to remove codes, the codes do not mean the units are faulty ,just there is a fault, could be just a bad connection.
the no power is a mode called "LIMP" this the ECM sets if there is a major fault in one or many of the engines sensors, to find what one your gonna have to visit one with a "code reader" this includes the "dealer" or a national auto parts chain store some of those even read the code for free just for the chance to sell you the sensor , this reminds me of one i had a year or so ago a guy that work with me parked his pick up under a tree and the next day it would start but ran terrible , turns out a animal that lived in the tree ate the wires under the hood overnite
EGR valve failures are very rare. The check engine light coming on means that the engine computer has stored a fault code. The code you are getting from your computer coinsides with a troubleshooting tree in the service manual. Fault codes NEVER tell you what parts to replace. They only tell you which of the many systems monitored by the computer is operating outside its expected "Range" or "Window of Operation" Fault codes must be properly diagnosed to determine the actual cause of the system malfunction before any effective repairs can take place.
You need to check the PCM for fault codes, if none exist, you need to follow the manufacture's diagnostic tree for "No start - no codes". You will need a manual or a Mitchell On-Demand or AllData program for this. You probably blew up the PCM.
