Question about 2001 Volkswagen Cabrio
Is someone really on here right now? is there any correlation between the ignition and the mass air flow sensor on a 2001 vw cabrio? here's the 441. i was naughty got a dui and had to have an interlock system installed to my car today. just had the car to the vw dealership 2wks ago, spent 4k, had the mass air flow sensor replaced and an all points check. This morning car in working condition. after they instaled this aparatus in my car this afternoon call is trying to turn over, stalling out and now REAKS of gasoline. i recognize this from my old volvo that i replaced the same sensor in (myself). i'm having the device removed tomorrow at 7am and taking to the dealership but would like some kind of information before he arrives tomorrow morning so any advice/information would be soooo appreciated. many thank you's in advance Denise :)
Mass air low sensors can be cleaned. If a new one was installed you should be ok as far as metering the air, sensor has very sensitive and fragile wires, and should only be cleaned by mass air flow sensor cleaner. Unless they left it unplugged, or the computer is not picking up signal from one dead out of the box. The all points check may have dislodged a vacuum line. But if you are at the dealer, they need to be answering your questions, after that 4K tune-up.

check your timeing belt frist . then check your fuel pump.and check your fuelter then check your fuese. 9 time out of 10 when a car die on you while driving its your timeing belt

If the mass flow sensor was bad, the check engine light should of came on giving off an engine code. To remove the mass flow, disconnect battery neg cable, then pull of the wire harness and pull out mass. You will probably have to remove the air intake hose.

check engine light flashing means misfire and it staying on is probably because of your o2 sensor picking up all the unburnt fuel. check all the spark plugs again and make sure you didn't cross any wires. i'm pretty sure the wires were crossed or the spark plugs were fouled
