My truck is making a clicking grabbing noise when driving in 4 wheel drive

I have a 2002 Dodge 1500 Ram 4x4, quad cab and had the same problem. In 2wd the clicking was constant, in 4wd it would go away. Also I had no 4wd while in 4wd, found that out after a snow storm. I took my truck to a buddies garage (a Dodge mechanic), he said this is a common problem. He pulled the drivers side wheel, hub, axle and stub axle. The stub axle splines where it goes into the CV joint and and the internal splines in the CV joint were gone. Almost smooth even. The wheel bearing was completely wore out too. I ended up replacing the hub assembly, both the inner and outer axles. Not a cheap fix either I have about $600 repair bill, but it's back on the road now smooth and quite.

might check the bearings to see if properly greased

If its in 4WD thats normal. On hard, dry, pavement its binding up because the front wheels and the rear wheels are turning at different speeds.

I had the same problem (same truck). I replaced the axle u-joint solved the problem. I recomend replacing both side at the same time.

Testimonial: "Thats what it was Took it over the Big O tire and they repaced it. Wala. I reccomend you get both done at the same time, for the other one goes out."

When i make a right or left turn the wheel makes a clicking noise, then when straightening back out the wheel make another pop. Could there be a power steering problem, ball joint, or tire?

Do you have 4-wheel drive? The noise you describe sounds like a CV joint going bad in the front drive axle.
