Question about Chevrolet TrailBlazer

1 Answer

Trailblazer stalls when turning

At first the car was being weird because you could not fill the gas tank because it would trip the pump as being full. You had to keep the hose a bit out of the tank to fill it up. The next thing that happened is it started having trouble starting. The next thing that happened is it would stall while making turns. WE tested the battery and it gave spikes in voltage. We got the oil changed and the charging system and battery tested they came up fine. The air filter was soaked in gas though.

Ignition system sounds probable on vhicle when everything gets warmed up. High pitched hum could be bad tire or worse bearing.

SOURCE: chry 300c 06 stalls after filling tank

Tell me when you fill up how far do you go before it stops,,then how far does it go the second time and the 3rd time ,,Do the times get longer each time,, if so then your problem isent a big deal.
The problem you might have is that the return fuel pipe from the engine returning fuel back in to the tank,, and the TANK breather pipe which has to let air in as you cannot take fuel out and not let air back in ,,so it causes a vacuum in the tank... So check the breather before any thing else .. OR dont fill it up any more than the first click of the pumps .
Let me know how you get on Ron

When I pump gas into the gas tank it trips gas pump

there is no vent...fuel systems in most cars are closed..Did this just recently start to happen or it was happening all along. some inlet pipes are pitched at an angle that newer gas nozzle coupling cant properly seal around and this trips the pump. especially if you are trying to fill it to full tank

2006 GMC Envoy now hard to fill gas tank keeps stopping then finally when full doesn't want to start & struggles to stay running

After the pump stops the first time, how much more gas are you able to put in it? You shouldn't "top off" the tank because you can damage the vent.

If it keeps stopping when it's no where near full, I have a couple of links you can look at for a possibility. You can always call your dealer and see if there are any TSB's regarding this.

Is difficult to fill gas tank

Gas pump nozzles have a device in the end that when gasoline runs back up into it, it turns off the fuel flow." There's a tiny hole near the bottom of the gas pump nozzle connected to a small tube.
Normally, air flows through that tube while you're filling and the gas keeps flowing as long as you hold down on the trigger. When that hole gets covered by gasoline (when your tank is full), a vacuum forms inside the nozzle and an automatic shutoff switch gets tripped, turning off the flow of gas with a thunk. Next time your fueling up try to reposition the nozzle.

2005 Kia Optima w/ Trouble code PO441; stalls after filling up with gas - how do I fix it?

Here's a link for p0441 (not po441) http://www.obd-codes.com/p0441
P0441 Evaporative Emission Control System Incorrect Purge Flow.
Since it happens when it fills up, you'd have to look at what happens with a almost full tank (you stop about a gallon before full), vs a full (gasp pump stopped when full) tanks. Something might be happening when gas gets to far up the filling tube. Maybe there is a vent line with a valve that's getting gas in there causing the fault. I'm not a kia expert, but If stopping the gas pump yourself fixes the problem, then stop "topping off"

When gas tank gets to about 1/4 the car stalls when making hard or long right turns

Gas level sensors are very inaccurate, they become especially so over time. If you judge your gas level by your gauge reading - most probably by the time it shows 1/4 tank it is actually almost empty. When you make a right turn (or brake hard) the remaining gas in the tank rushes away from the gas pump intake. It usually means that you have about a gallon or less fuel left.
Solution: Set up your trip odometer every time you get your tank full, then read how many miles you traveled since your last fill up - you'd know how much gas you have left. Or replace your gas level sensor for a good new one. If you have to drop your gas tank to do that it is usually not worth the money.

2005 chevy trail blazer -which fuses are connected to fuel pump. Engine turns over but will not start. I don't have an owners manual. it's cold outside 25 deg. gas guage has not worked fo 2 years but...

Every fuse box in the vehicle around dash area and under the hood shows what fuse goes to what. You just have to take the lid/cover off and look under it. Might just be the fuel pump itself.

Stalling no codes after car sits for hours

STALLING IS USUALLY, CONTAMINANTS IN THE FUEL. CHANGE UR BRAND OF GAS, TEXACO FOR SHELL....PROBABLY A BAD BATCH. FILL THE TANK UP AND ADD A GOOD QUALITY GAS TREATMENT, LIKE STP. FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS ON THE BOTTLE. ALSO A PLUGGED FUEL FILTER. THE FUEL FILTER IS PROBABLY ATTACHED TO THE FUEL PUMP INSIDE THE GAS TANK. IF THATS THE CASE, ITS A TRIP TO THE MECHANIC.

Cannot freely pump gas into my 2000 ford taurus

The gas guage is a seprate problem, the gas fill hose may have a sharp ben in the hose or kink, the gas pump hase a shut off valve that shuts off the pump if gas does not flow freely ie:blockage or full tank, I would visualy inspect the filler hose from the gas cap to the tank for again sharp bends or kinks, if the filler hose is in anyway restricked the pump may asume the tank is full.
the gas guage: is usualy a simple flot on a rod in the tank (like a toilet tank has) instead of opening or closing a valve it operates a "potentiometer" veriable position sensor (kind of like a dimmer switch).
if the float gets stuck the guage will stay in that position, the guage gets the signal via the wire harnes, so check the electric circit.
A trick I used on one of my jeeps (I removed the guages ) I filled the tank, reset the trip odometer to zero, put a jeerycan and a couple gallons of gas in the jeep, then drove normaly a week or so till I ran out of gas. wrote down the mileage on the trip odometer. gerrycan gas got me to the gas station.
divided the mileage by half. I fill up the tank all the way the reset the trip odometer to zero, when I reach the half mileage of the tank I fill up again and repeat

Sorry if this gets posted twice. I have a 95 Saab 900, which I just acquired. I can get only about 4 or 5 gallons in at a time. The best analysis I found was this one where the man pinpoints a stuck valve in the gas tank, and tells of what he did to address it.: http://www.quasimotors.com/9_5_gas_fill_prob.htm
