Question about 1995 Chevrolet Lumina
Tried to start car but it won't even crank. I see now the security light is flashing. My car has passkey 2 and we tried to "relearn" it by keeping the key in the on position for 10-15min or until the light stops flashing, then repeat 3x, but the light never stopped flashing!! I am a single mom, I do not have more than a couple hundred dollars saved on the side... I don't know what to do!!! Would installing a remote starter fix it?? am I doing something wrong when trying to relearn? is there any other CHEAP way of fixing this issue?? PLEASE HELP!!!
If your key has the black bump on the side of it, you can try to clean it. That is the resistor for the security system. The ignition reads that bump and if the resistance doesn't match, it won't start.

try to start it in neutral. the trans. has a safety switch that will not allow the car to start in anything, but park and neutral. sometimes the shift lever gets a little out of line with the gear indicator. also try firmly shifting into and out of park a few times. this may flip the switch. good luck

Yes some do some don't, my 2005 Dodge 200-400 feet, my 1996 Corvette 20 feet, my wife's 1998 Buick about 50 feet, is the remote battery ok? should be changed at least once a year

SOURCE: 99 chevy lumina wont crank!
you probably have a broken wire in the ignition that reads the resistance in the chip in the key. there are two wires that attach the ignition switch to the security system.I had the same problem and it can be easily fixed by putting a resister in place of the chip in the key.any garage that puts alarm systems in cars will be able to do this very easily and very economically.
