I would go with the first. Do a transmission service. Filter could be a bit clogged up. Also check the bottom of the pan for metal. Could be metal flakes or small chunks of metal. If there is metal, replace the filter and put the old fluid back in it. This may help, but you are looking at a rebuild soon.

If your transmission is overheating, this can be a bit concerning. I would advise for you to get it looked at, because continuing to drive it might make the problem worse. Before too long, you should definitely take it in for some repairs to be sure that you get it fixed properly. I hope you are able to get it all figured out! http://www.tampatransautocare.com/services.html

Sounds like your transmission is having problems, did you feel the tranny slips for awhile prior to the warning light comes on? If so, then you need to take it to the transmission shop for diagnosis and repair. Either you need to get a rebuilt trans or bands repair.

How do i check level and drain if required the auto transmission fluid on a 2006 fiat panda dynamic as a warning light on dash states clutch overheating?

on most transmissions the fill plug is a square hole or a allen type located on the side of the transmission case about halfway, that is where you check and fill the transmission, and to drain it the plug is on the bottom of the transmission case.

What does the "trans over temp" light mean?

the transmission is over heated , check the fluid level and check that the cooling system is working correctly as there will be a trans fluid inter cooler which may not be operating correctly

At/oiltemp light came on will no longer drive but will reverse.

If the warning light was correct, the fluid in the transmission overheated. You could have damaged other components too.

What does warning light "A/T Oil Temp warning light mean

I Would Say It Means Automatic Transmission Fluid Is Hot ,So Check Its Level There should Be a Dip Stick For This If Not Then i Would Think something Is Wrong in The Gear box Or The Gearbox Oil Cooler If Fitted Could be An Integral Part Of The Radiator.

BMW x5 warning light fiasco

Hello This is Mike,,

Sometimes.... Sometimes this will take care of some of those faults and codes, and it only takes a few minutes to do. I know your problem is not exact as this reset method says, but however you would be amazed on this fixes a lot of things, it like a cheap way to reset computer and fixes a lot of things back to default mode. Try it and let me know. Mike

IT'S VERY EASY TO RESET THE TRANSMISSION'S COMPUTER. HOLD GAS PEDAL DOWN. TURN THE KEY TO THE NUMBER TWO. CONTINUE TO HOLD THE GAS PEDAL DOWN FOR THIRTY SECONDS.RELEASE THE GAS PEDAL AND PRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL FOR TEN SECONDS. NOW YOU CAN TURN THE VEHICLE ON. THAT SHOULD TAKE IT OUT OF SAFE MODE

NO. These models do not have warnings on the transmission failure. There is warnings only when the transmission encounters electrical component failure, overheating(some cars), low fluid. Usually the warning is the O/D flashing light, or a seperate transmission light. Hopefully this helps

My transmission light came on, thought I need to add fluid?

If it was the transmission light that came on then the first thing to do is check the transmission oil level as I think that transmission is actually a transmission overheating warning light. If it is the light pictured below this indicates an Engine systems fault and will need to be checked using a diagnostic scan tool.
