Question about Cars & Trucks
It has jus recently rained and after going through a bit of water the car started to mae this grinding sound like medal on medal, it is a Dodge 2001 stratus and i know we need to get the backstruts done. this new sound is bothersome, we also have a power steering problem in cold weather I don't know if this is tied to it or not. This sound is loud and horrendous. It is really loud inside the car and pretty loud out side the car it happens mostly when turning but also when we hit a bump or go over a drain hole thing. any help is appreciated; the mechanics in my neighbor hood are shady and unreliable

SOURCE: 2002 Dodge Stratus Squeaks
I would check the lower control arm bushings and sway bar bushings for the squeak, and the shaken when breaking means you have warped rotors,if it shakes in the steering wheel its the frt,if the whole car shakes then it usaaly means it is in the rear rotorsor drums.

HI, i would inspect the strut assembly for loose structure asap. i would also inspect the wheel knuckle and rotor and tie rod ends for loose fit as well. inspect thoroughly.
Its most likely the CV-joint assembly. the boot may have slipped off, allowing the joint assembly to dry up. i advise to inspect all the above before looking at the CV-half joint assembly and boot.

I had a somewhat related type of problem with my 2000 dodge stratus. It had poor steering and handling on curves. After 55000 miles with this problem I decided to replace the brain box, not the TCM. Now it steers more easily and takes curves at higher speeds well. I was amazed because I avoided unnecessary costly repairs. Hope this helps.

I HAVE A 2003 DURANGO THAT DOES THE SAME, IT IS EITHER THE CONTROL ARM BUSHINGS (UPPER AND LOWER) OR THE TORSION BARS AND/ OR BUSHINGS!!!

If it is new take it back to the dealler for warranty repair. No new vehicle should have any noises . seriously, take it back for repair.
