Distibutor not rotating - 1991 Dodge Shadow

The firing order is 1-4-2-5-3-6, the distibutor rotates clockwise. the cylinders are as follow on the passenger side of the engine it is 1-2-3 and the drivers side is 2-4-6, number 1 is the first one from the front of the engine just behind the altenator, then the other side is starting with number 2 and ending in number 6 at the drivers side rear of engine..

On the left bank which is closer to you, is cylinders 1-2-3, and on the right bank its 4-5-6, and the distibutor rotates counter clockwise

First item you need to go after is the slow turning. have the battery charged and load tested. Once that the battery is verified as fully charged and good, put a volt meter between the two posts and crank the engine. voltage should not drop below 9.5V If it does, It is likely that your starter is worn out. If your distributor has a bolt that goes through an ear that is part of the distributor, you cannot adjust the timing. It is pre-set and controlled by the computer. Make sure you have the firing order correct and that you are indexing from the correct position on the cap.(turn the engine to tdc on the timing scale and rotor should either be pointing directly 180 degrees away from #1 or directly at it. Make sure you are getting spark and fuel when engine is cranking and it should start.

I would check the stator(hall effect switch) in the distibutor.

the best thing is take that distributor out, exchange for other new one. make sure the new distributor is a right year for your car and model . good luck

Firing order is 1  3  4  2  and start at one, (the top) go one at a time, and move in a clockwise rotation.  looks like this:

#1 cyl top dead center compression stroke, rotor pointining in a straight line between # 1 plug and front manifold bolt (front outer corner of valve cover driver side). Firing order 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 distibutor rotates clockwise

What engine? 4.0 is 153624. Can't remember distibutor rotation though.
