Can you convert a nissan carb to fuel injection and where can i have it done in western cape

you can but the conversion will cause even more problems as you need sensors to make it work and they are not fitted to a carby model
carbies are really hassle free if they have been overhauled correctly , adjusted and left alone or simply replaced with a new one
post again with the make , model year of vehicle and the problems you are having that apply to the carby or indicate a carby problem and maybe some one will be able to help with advice on how to fix

How do I set tappets on Nissan 1400

With a special tool called a feeler gauge remove the valve covers and one by one bring the cylinders up to top dead center (both valves are fully closed at this point) adjust to factory spec. All adjustments are done cold. If engine is very high miles reduce the clearances in specs by slight amount (.002") to the tight side to account for wear in the valve train parts.

I drive a Nissan 1400 bakkie (not a champ) i drives good and then starts jerking and wants to die as soon i i give petrol it sounds like its smothering

hi, personally ..i love that bakkie. Ok you changed points condensor, petrol filter! please check.. When it cuts out 1. if the ignition coil is not hot, if so thats your problem.2. also on the carb... over the needle and seat there is a tiny filter... somtimes gets blocked. 3. also check when it stolls if the fuel pump is not hot or pull the outlet fuel from the pump
and crank the engine... note if fuel comes out sufficiently.

Ive got a 1400 nissan and is heavy on fuel. i fitted a new nikky carburator... plz help

The carb fitted, is it brand new? Second hand new or bought at Eddie's? Not to dis Eddie's but for the most part carbs from them are rubbish. Get it cleaned out, focus especially on the emulsion tube(that long removable tube with a whole lot of little holes drilled in it) Primary main 105, secondary main 140 to 150.(140 more economy,150 more power) Don't go less than 140 or you'll be running too lean and burn valves. Double check your ignition timing and the vacuum line between the dizzy and the carb. Poor ignition timing also makes these engines very thirsty. Check the weights in the distributor for free movement. A good dose of Q20 into the distributor will be well recommended.
Since this little bakkie is unique to SA Id recommend trying some local forms as well, such as Carforums and Nissan Owners Forums.
