This could be a lot of things but I would try the most immediate solutions first.Do you have the correct level of coolant in your radiator? It could also be your thermostat not functioning properly and stuck open.It could also be your temperature sensor.Lastly and most expensively it could also be a clogged drier located in most vehicle under the dash board.Try a radiator flush if all else fails.

Takes long time warm up

1- first off, it takes a good, engine thermostat to get good heat.
(input) (its called a heat exhanger) bad input ,gives bad output.

we connect a scan tool an see ECT at 180F or more, holding and in the normal driving distances, if you STAT is 2001, its old and slow, get it out of there. if true. old stats can cause overheating and engine damage to any sign of sluggishness or wrong temps, its kicked to the curb, fast. ( if a smart cookie) LOL.
Second, is the fan, yours works. end fan.

Third, are the dampers , these must change at your command.
the FSM covers these tests. do you want to do them.?

its at alldata.com too.. login and read HVAC.

probably need a new thermostat. when they get old they like to stick open, when they stick open your coolant circulates too fast to build up enough heat

I have the old green anti-freeze in my vehicle , the main heater hose is getting warm but no heat, does the anti-freeze matter ?

NO, but thats the incorrect anti-freeze. It should be ORANGE Dexcool. Both hoses in and out should be HOT. if they are not, flush the heater core.

the alternator is definately bad, if it ran your battery dead like that, and of course as you can tell your battery is trash and needs replaced.. not sure what to tell you on how it runs, considering once it warms up it runs good.
