Question about 1999 Volkswagen Passat
99 Passat AC/Heater blower fan doesnt' work at all. It began by the fan only working on high speed. Didn't matter what position the fan control knob was in. Then the fan control knob wouldn't turn at all and was stuck. Then it sounded like something broke or was falling down behind the dash. The control knob started to work again, but the fan speed stayed on high. Then the fan shut off. Then the led lights began to glow on and off. Finally, fan is dead, control works, but fan does not.
Sounds like the fan control knob has shorted out. You can check the fan "blower" relay and fuse in the engine compartment but you need to make sure the control knob is good or you will keep blowing fuses and relays. If your blower fuse and relay are good, then just have the control knob checked and replaced if needed.
