SOURCE: 1998 Chrysler Intrepid ES 3.2 Code P0731.

Check the connection to the vehicle speed sensor. You can check the vehicle speed sensor by using a voltmeter set at millivolt. Then pass a metallic object close to it. The sensor should induce voltage as you pass the metallic object close to it. If not replace the vehicle speed sensor.

Locate the fuse pannel and check for blown fuse...If fuse not blown - check fan control relay for proper operation - If thats not the problem check for voltage at the switch.

SOURCE: trans stays in limp mode,

Which speed sensor? I could be confusing models here but usually there are two. one sensor in the front and one in the rear.
Actually the speedometer head would not cause the limp home mode. The bad thing is that there are a lot of things that could cause the limp home mode from solenoids clogged in the transmission to a bad wire connection. When a machine goes into limp mode it automatically severs all the other connections such as to the speedometer.

SOURCE: my trans is stuck in second gear. Is that what

The town and country vans are know for transmission problems and it would not be stuck in 2nd gear if it was in limp mode. Limp mode typically controls the engine. I have seen people do a transmission flush/filter and add lucas to temporary fix the problem. There is also a good chance that the transmission has a solenoid problem preventing it from shifting into any other gears but second. Hope this helps!

SOURCE: volvo xc70 in limp mode 7 fault codes recorded d5

Possible problem with the alternator not putting out enough voltage. I had the same problem with my 2002 XC70, putting in a new alternator fixed it. I used a local mechanic who I found on the car talk web-site. Low Cost Volvo parts can be purchased at FCP Groton.

I have changed trans 3 times in my 98 ford expedition and it goes out within a week. I was told there is no line pressure. How can I tell if its stuck in limp mode? What do you think the problem is?

Your shop is not honest or incompetent if they changed 3 transmissions and they only last a week. The front pump of the trans provides pressure. Limp mode is determined by the PCM is has no bearing here.

Get an OBDII reader and connect to see what error codes you are getting. Limp mode can be caused by many different things including problems with the transmission.

Code P0700 on my Chrysler 300

this indicates a transmission code that needs to be hooked up to a scan tool that can read all trans codes in the TCM to see what else maybe set, some scan tools can`t read all the codes. you don`t say what the symptoms are in regards to how the trans is shifting or not shifting. has it gone into limp mode.

Trans stuck in limp mode i'm getting a p1751 code

P 1751 Shift Solenoid" A" performance. The solenoid is part of the transmission valve body and yes if this solenoid fails you will get limp mode. The only solution is a new solenoid may be even the wires to it or even the transmission module

2006 Chrysler 300 wont go over 35 mph. Also will not shift into lower Drive gears

It is in limp mode. Have the transmission computer scanned for codes. It likely has a bad speed sensor. If it has a code in the trans computer, the computer will lock the transmission is second gear.

96 chrysler LHS "limp mode"

OK here is the bad news....yes you propably do need the solenoid pack replaced in the trans,BUT....you can try replacing the input and output sensors on the trans they are about $16.00 each at the dealer,I dont recommend aftermarket sensors.they are pretty easy to get to dont forget to clear the pcm after the repairs.good luck have a good day DB
