Sounds like the water level is low in the radiator. Look at the water pump too. Sometimes the blades will slip on the shaft causing the problem.

Make sure and top up your coolant at every fill-up for a while. Airlocked heat exchangers tend to burp out air at random until none is left. My saturn still has a little in it, i can hear it the first time i take off from a stoplight in the morning.

On these and many other vehicles, use a vacuum refill coolant air lift.This removes all air in the cooling system and then fills the cooling system fully with coolant.

Diagnostic code p0171

code p0171 refers to system too lean-bank 1===causes --intake /exhaust leak---AIR system MAF/VAF sensor--fuel pressure /pump/ regulator---injectors--HO2S IF the thermostat working ok then the engine will get hot enough up to 85 degrees minimum. May be you have an air lock in the coolant system or the heater control is not opening the flow control to the heater core properly

No heat

you may have a air lock in your cabin heater, or cabin heater is clogged. first try to bleed air in system by raising the front of car. le *** idle and try to bleed system with bleeding screw on radiator or where ever it is. if this wont help you need a new cabin heater. it is really common problem on older cars.

Came in with water pump locked up, replaced, and thermostate from dealer. / radiator stoped up - replaced . failed head test . we did a head job , vel still over heating at idle, 1500 rpms are above...

Sounds like it's air locked. Too much air trapped in system. You could try opening the heater hose connection or any point that is highest, with engine OFF. Top up as much as possible in radiator (not overflow bottle) then close the connection. Leave rad cap off and start engine, allow to warm up. (put heat on full, fan on 1,) gently rev up engine, 2,000 rpm, and note drop of fluid level in radiator, keep revs up while topping off radiator as much as possible, close rad cap before allowing to idle. Hopefully this should do it, otherwise youll need a vacuum pump to do it properly. That would be very unusual for a standard production car.

Over heating after reaplacing water pump thurmustate

Might be air locked, bleeds the system well, let it idle for half hour with the radiator cap off and heater of full blast, keep filling the coolant as the air comes out and coolant goes down. Once you have good heat then put the cap on and you will be fine.

At idle, Heater Core Return Line is flowing only

two things--first replace your cabin air filter.second reverse flush your heater core with a garden hose and that should remove the build up of material in your heater core and restore the flow,hope this helps

Heater only blows cold air but hoses are hot

It appears we have an Air lock scenario and you will need to perform a system Bleed.
Park the vehicle on level ground, when cold remove coolant filler cap, start engine and leave to idle, turn heater on full and blower to max. When engine reaches operating temperature watch and listen near coolant filler, keep clear as gurgling and hopefully a boil over should occur. Top up with very warm coolant and wait as it may do it again.
Check for heat inside vehicle if warm replace coolant cap but keep an eye on temperature gauge as the ~Air lock may have moved on from heater matrix/core so proceedure needs to be carried out again from COLD.
If persistent boil ups/over attention must made in the cylinder head
or gasket area, or possibly water pump?
