There is a 'wot' (wide open throttle) switch somewhere connected to the gas pedal or the fuel system. Usually it only turns off the air conditioner to protect it from excessive rpms. If it somehow is affecting the fuel or ignition system, I suspect a computer problem. Have the codes checked, at this age, the computer may be failing.

SOURCE: engine wont idle unless you keep your foot on the gas pedal

First, try a new accelerator pump. They're less than $10 and easy to install. On the side of the carburator, near the linkage. It's simple a small rubber diaphragm.

SOURCE: ran out of gas,put 2 gals in tank got it started

the debris from the bottom off the tank may have clogged the fuel filter and or the injectors. theres no fuel getting into the engine, change fuel filter, thats about $25.00. if problems persists try an injector cleaner.

This sounds like one of 2 possible causes, 1 the timing gear or crank pin has sheered or the fuel system is vapor locked.

You need to pull the fuel line from the carburetor and watch for fuel flow as someone cranks over the engine. Sounds as though the pump has gone out or possibly just blown a fuse.

SOURCE: engine stalling when i step on gas petal. Idles

check the distributor cap,, clean any corrosion that's in the cap,, clean off the rotor tip,, you may need a new set of plugs, and or wires , if these don't fix the issue,, get some carb cleaner and spray it into the carb or throttle body of your motor, and check the idle control sensor in your vehicle

How do I fix my rv it wont go forward when floored. feels like brakes are on. reverse is ok

If you are getting no power, but the engine is doing it's thing, you may have no forward gears, or it may be in a higher gear. If it has been reassembled with vacuum lines and components disconnected, they may have messed with the shifting of the transmission. I would start by verifying it is in 1st when starting out.

if it has a carby ( you didn't bother to mention carby or EFI), have the carby overhauled as from your description, the accelerator and power sections of the carby are not working, Blocked jets or low float levels
if it is EFI have the fault codes read to check for MAF/VAF sensors and/ or heated oxygen sensor problems
your description indicates that the engine is not getting excess fuel to provide engine rpm acceleration be it either carby or electronic system

It maybe the fuel pressure rugulator inside the EFI Unit. Sorenson makes a rebuild kit with all the gaskets, screens and regulator for about $30. An EFI is the most simplest carb you can rebuild. Check the Hanes manual or U-Tube to see how.
