I have scan tool code came up with c2205 - 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan

how to use one and how they work , short 101 topi9c
first off our PCM in USA 1996 OBD2
all work the same, in this regard.
the DCTs seen on any and all tool is 2 kinds
stored errors
live errors. (real time live errors too ,and even Intermittent)
now the silly CEL (ses/mil) lamp glowing
the CEL does not glow for all errors that is what scan tool only does.
my guess is not using a real scan tool, it misses. all factory OEM DTC ERRORS STORED. SO THE $13 TOOLS NEVER WORK RIGHT AS THOSE ARE TOY GRADE TOOLS (OR WORSE CODE READERS)

THE PCM WILL NOT CLEAR MANY DTC ERRORS UNTIL 30 COLD START RUNS ARE DOWN, (EVEN THE SILLY GAS CAP LOOSE ERROR) YES THE TOOL WILL RESET THIS ERROR DTC.

THE SCAN TOOL IN MOST CASES CLEAR ALL DTC (NOT ABS)
BUT WHAT YOU FAIL TO KNOW IS THAT the error is LIVE and pops back fast and OR you scan tool is toy grade and can not see them.
cheap tools do not do ABS or SRS bags
nor P1 , P2 and up oem FACTORY codes
or can not do FACTORY U-nnnn codes or C-nnnn codes at all.
for sure you get what you pay for in scan tools!!!
$300 is a par price for one in USA good
the tool needs to be 2008 or newer here to see all CAN/Bus network errors,
and must be (Chrysler , code complaint)) both that and 2008 or newer most scan tools added can-bus in usa 2008 is why
but no country told, I only DO USA cars, period,

keep in mind, you can clear all DTC and they can come back in 1 second flats (FASTER THAN HUMANS CAN ACT)
one simple test to prove that is unplug A IAT OR ECT SENSOR
AND SEE CEL GLOW AND SEE DTC ERROR FOR IT IN 1 SECOND.
THOSE ARE LIVE ERRORS

MY BEST GUESS HERE IS YOUR SCAN TOOL IS NO GOOD.
ALSO THE PCM RUNS THE TRANSMISSION
AND IF TRANNY FAILS TOO THE CEL CAN GLOW . IN 1SECOND
AND MANY CARS HAVE P1 CODES FOR THAT MANY TOOLS CHEAP CAN NOT SEE AT ALL

GET A REAL SCAN TOOL ,RENTED, BORROWED OR BUY
OR GET THE CAR SCANNED IN A REAL SHOP

Is it a code reader or a scan tool ,there is a difference ! An some will just read OBD codes from engine control module . This is the way you start diagnosing this system !
Automatic Level Control Diagnostic System Check
Install a scan tool. Does the scan tool power up?
Go to Step 2
Go to Scan Tool Does Not Power Up in Data Link Communications

1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
2. Attempt to establish communication with the Rear Integrated Module (RIM).

Does the scan tool communicate with the RIM?
Go to Step 3
Go to Scan Tool Does Not Communicate with Class 2 Device in Data Link Communications
Select the automatic level control display DTC function on the scan tool.
Does the scan tool display any DTCs?
Go to Step 4

Does the scan tool display any DTCs which begin with a "U"?

Does the scan tool display DTC B1007 or B1009?

This is one you should take to a ASE certified repair facility , there are electronic modules involved you have no idea about !

by what means... must we guess that (dash, autozoned, a real tool)
my guess, your scan tool is bad?
what scan tool shows that.? name it. please.

use a real scan tool and do not use anything else.
only a real tool shows all codes stored.

Cxxxx here xxxx is a 4 digit number.

It means that there are transmission codes stored in the transmission control module. You will need a high end scan tool to get those codes. A standard OBDII code reader will not work.

no year car posts are no good. 03- 11 are choices.

any modern OBD2 tool works
if car is newer than say 2004, use modern scan tool
if car is newer that 2007 , even newer tools are need.
if car is newer and the FREE autozone tool is blind then its junk.
may store run the wrong old tools that are near useless on newer cars.

if car is old say so, as most , can use $9 tool or $20

use a modern scan tool post 2004 tool for sure.
go to real shop with real tools. not old scan tools.

if the CEL glows. scan it.
all cars, 1988 to now (usa)
all cars ,1996 era old tools work. great. (N/A here)
all cars 2004 and for sure 2008 needs a modern CAN-bus scan tool. Some cars went to CAN-BUS early, YMMV.
sometimes the old wrong scan tool will see old P0 federal
scan codes, but will miss all the important new scan DTCs.
OBD2 evolved fast, you must track this or fail.

press the clear DTC button on the scan tool.
bam, gone.
or you are using a cheap scan tools that does not
all factory codes, and one is set.!
keep in mind, the CEL dont glow for all DTCs
and many scan tools are blind to some or all factory codes
P1xxx and P2xxx are both factory only codes, only
Acura codes,
rule 3> if the scan tool does show say P1xxx code
do not use non Acura data on that code, as its a Acura only code
only P0xxx codes are a standard here, in USA>

in some countries, even P0300 code (gross misfire) in Canada
do NOt glow the CEL, but does store the code

Generic Scan Tool Code = P0460
DRB Scan Tool Display = Fuel Level Unit No Change Over Miles
Description of Diagnostic Trouble Code = No movement of fuel level sender detected.
