It sounds like a bad oil sending unit on the engine. It could have a bad connection or just bad.

Oil gauge will not move with the engine off. If its still the same with the engine running, replace the sending unit on the engine as its electronic gauge.

Oil pressure light on after rebuild on the engine ...why?

Never start a new built engine without turning it over a while to build oil pressure first. Then if there is no oil pressure you either have a bad pump, gauge, or possibly a clogged filter.

Oil pressure guage malfunction how to tell if it is sensor or guage.

key on ,engine off, have someone observe the gauge, disconnect oil pressure sender, and with a test light to ground , touch one or the other pins on the connector and see if the gauge moves. If it moves ,replace the oil pressure sender.

My 1984 Nissan bluebird trx has a dashboard which shows temp, oil pressure and, on the driver's side, fuel guage and charge and these gauges are incremental gauges, ie they rise in increments. the fuel...

if i remember correctly there is a resister in the dash board that will need replacing, this is on the power side for both the gauges. . it will need replacing. i think a company in the 90's did a upgrade for the dash board so if its the upgrade it will be on a board. the original was on the back strip. you just cut it out and solder new one in its place to the parts left, but don't solder for to long as it can ment the strip.

Temperature needle stays on the hot and doesnt move even when the car is cold?

YOur guage is faulty. Your will need to replace your guage if it stays in the hot position even when your car is off and your key is out of the ignition. If it only rises to hot when you turn the key to the run position, you have a wire between your guage and your temp sending unit that has been gounded out. Usually this happens when a person opens their hood to add oil or perform some minor maintenance on the engine and inadvertantly bumps the sensor or switch or wiring. This causes about 65% of these minor issues people incur, but if it does stay all the way up with your key out of the ignition switch, then you will need to replace your temp guage.

I have a 1988 ford f-150 custom with a straight six with a 4 speed manual trans. the fuel gauge and temp gauge is not working but the speedometer and odometer and oil pressure is working what could it be?

could be the guage itself, the sending unit for those guages or the wiring in between. find the sending unit, should be two wires the sending unit actually changes the amount of voltage going to the guage. cross the two wires over at the sending unit, the guage should read all the way in one direction, do this for both guages. if the guage moves to an extreme position when the wires are crossed the guage and wiring are fine and the sending unit is the culprit. if you cant get the guages to move by crosing the wires, suspect the guage itself. find you a freindly garage to help w your repair. hope this is useful

I have a 95 Chrysler LeBaron. The Battery Guage won't move. Shows no voltage. I replaced the Aternator, and the guage still does not move.

Is your guage an Amp guage or Volts guage. Amp guages do not move unless there is a short to ground, the volt guage moves as the alternator charges and discharges. If you have a Volt guage more than likely you need to replace it.
