Question about 1995 Ford F350

1 Answer

I have a 95 f350 7.3L. Check engine light comes on intermittently and goes into a "lope idle". Very sluggish and won't go over 40, then light goes off and runs fine for awhile. I'm thinkingmitsmthe map sensor but didn't want to just start changing parts without researching. Any thoughts?

It sounds like you should check the wire harness for the injectors and the glow plugs they are molded into your valve cover gaskets and over time the little tab that holds them together breaks and you get a loose connection you will have to pull the valve covers to check

SOURCE: truck starts, dies. truck runs good some days, bad the next

I had the same problem with My 1990 F150 300 6cylinder 4x4.....I cahnged all the same things you did, finally I sprayed a can of Gumout through the throttle body and it worked and ran great. Now I add fuel injector cleaner to the gas and a regular clean with the gumout and the problem has'nt come back. Good Luck to you and hope it works!

95 gmc sierra won't hold steady rpm

Sounds like wiring problems with the engine harness.
The oil pressure not working could cause the hard starting problem.
The idle problem could be a faulty idle air control valve or a vac leak.
I would start with the check engine light and find out what the codes are.

Engine lopes at idle and check engine light on

In this case having the check-engine light is a good thing. Take the car to AutoZone and have them scan the computer for codes - they do it for free, whereas a shop will charge up to an hour's labor. Have them give you a printout of the codes, and post them here as a comment/reply. I can help you define them and see what needs to be done.

Loping when idling

Any time that the check engine light comes on, it indicates that the computer has found a condition serious enough to require service action. Rent a scanner, read the code(s), and pursue to repair(s). The scanner will clear the trouble light when the repairs are complete.

Mine was doing the same thing. I took it to one place and they charged me $107.00 for a fuel injection cleaning. That didn't do a thing. I then took it to a backyard mechanic and it turned out to be a bad spark plug. It has been running great ever since. Good luck.
