I have a 1992 chevy truck with a headlight problem.

Check all the wiring. it sounds like you have a loose wire or bad switch somewhere that is rattling around while the truck is running/driving.

Speedometer often does not work, headlights sometimes fail

Your fuse panel is causing all the ruckus. Replace your guage fuses and also, run a diagnostic (local service centre) on your car. it will check for the irregularitys in your cars computer and that also may be causing the problem.

Headlights randomly turning on and off,

with lots of the early 90's vehicles headlight malfunction can be caused by a disfunctional alternator either you may need to replace the alternator or sometime what can happen is the belt may be to loose if its not either of these you may just need a new battery

Change the headlight switch they are most likely burnt, hence the connection makes and breaks when they get hot.

It needs a new headlight(or multifunction) switch, or you can just not use the automatic setting.
