the temperature sensor often causes symptoms such as this. it incorrectly tells the computer that the engine is cold and needs a rich mixture which results in black smoke and hard starts. another cause for such a condition is fuel injectors that are dribbling rather than atomizing fuel spray.

Have a 92 olds bravada. engine code w. can only afford the cheap gas. having a hard time starting and when it does blue smoke blows out the exhaust. Better gas. plugs gapped incorrect. oil leaking into...


more then likly you have wore out valve seals and gauids cheap gas is not really the problem if its a high millage car o would recomend a oil additive to help it not smoke so much.

The pressure regulator is most likely the problem,but have the codes read to make sure.

check the intercooler pipes from the turbo to air intake manifold for splits or loose, normally needs someone to rev motor while some one looks and feels for excessive air blowing from this area, does mil light appear ?

Truck is blowing out black smoke. and if i give it gas it will run but if i let it ideal it cuts off?


Black smoke usually means the fuel mixture is too rich. Sounds like a choke/flooding problem.

ck your map sensor make sure you have good vac. clean the plugs ck. fuel pressurethat should solve it
