Question about 2001 Kia Sportage

1 Answer

Head lights, and other.

I've had ongoing issues with my head lights and now they don't work at all. all the others work ok, but it shows as if my brights are on all the time. It was making a weird buzzing noise when it first happened like something was jammed in the stearning wheel. and now they just don't work. I've had different issues that make the same buzzing or humming noise in past but it happens at different times and they always say they need to hear it. My lights would flash by them selves on then off then on. Sometimes my plinkers would act up when this would happen and blink really fast.

SOURCE: Trouble light came on with no warning and

If water got on plugs etc , the car may miss twice then the light will come on. You may not notice the miss. Put a code reader on and see what comes up. Once the water is gone everything shold go back to normal.

SOURCE: 2006 Kia Optima oil light flashes sometimes when Ideling. Don't know what to do.

check oil pressure should be 43 - 57 psi @3000 rpm. if oil pressure is low make sure oil filter and oil change has been done before removing oil pump which is part of the engine front timing cover.if oil pressure okay your oil pressure sending unit could be bad.

Engine oil in coolant

The 2.0 is notorious for blowing head gaskets. It could be a cracked head, but I bet it\'s the inner side of head gasket. The ongoing problem is caused by putting an aluminum head on a cast block. They just don\'t work together.

High beam headlights stuck on replaced switch same problem

It can be issue with headlight switch, but as its already been replaced.Try disconnecting high beam headlight wiring from headlight assembly and reconnect direct external wire from headlight switch to headlight assembly, then by switch see if headlight is getting off and turning on or not.

2001 Civic dimmer not working

It's not high and low beam, it's the dash lights that are dim. I've hooked up many aftermarket radios but never knew it was a no no to hook up the dimmer/illumination orange wires in a '01 civic. I googled it and seen many others with similar issues like mine but nothing exactly like the issue I have.

All the dash lights work, they are dim though. The radio lights work but they are even more dim than the rest of the dash lights. I have check every single fuse under the dash and in the engine bay. The dim controller does not work at all now. I'm guessing that's the issue and from what I read, the dimmers circuit board is in the instrument cluster. Some can fix it, others can't.

I will probably end up buying a used instrument cluster off of ebay, they are not expensive. Hopefully that fixes it since everything else works.

Oh, yes, the brake lights work.

Ted, I think you answered the wrong question...I mentioned nothing about the battery or the low/hi beams

Hi Ghost, Have a look at the head lamp relay. I believe you'll find the problem there. Regards John

My head lights will not work. fuse and light bulbs are checked. don't know what it could be.

If this is the case, try locating the relay of your headlights. There is a probability that the relay for your headlights is defective. When you located the relay box of your car, try to swap it with other relays to isolate if it is really the relay that is defective. It happened to me before and that is the same step that I've done. Hope this helps.

My 98 ford escort ZX2 is getting gas, spark and air and still it wont start. what do i need to do to fix this

If gas and spark are OK, then the cam timing is probably off. Check the alignment of the timing belt: these can slip. If this is OK, pull the plugs and do a compression test.

I don't know if the ZX2 has an interference engine, but if it does, and the belt has slipped, you've likely bent some valves, which will show up as low or zero compression.

Fixing bent valves requires the head to removed and reconditioned.

Hello, I have a headlight problem on a 2004 chey calvalier. All of my lights work except low beam on drivers side. Fuses on left and right headlights are good. I've switched bulbs as well and nothing...

I would focus on the connections going to that head light for the low beam. I agree, it is not the switch, otherwise other side low beam would not be working. It is most likely bad bulb inlet( if it i separated bulbs for high and low) or it is the connection going to the low beam that operates it. Hope this helps. Don't waste your time on switch, it is not that.

Head lights will not turn on, fuel guage missing, radio turns off

This is an old post so I don;t even know if you still have the car, but here is what I know.

1) Your radio issue is probably a relay. It is a relay bank located above your glove box. The entire glove box assembly will have to come out. This relay is a little different in appearnace thatn the others as it is skinnier and taller. It is called the Brand Name speakers/radio relay.

2) Your dash readouts are due to a burned out bulb. These are not LED. They are regular 124 bulbs. They've burned out. Banging on the dash probably allowed the filament of in the bulb to touch and temporarily worked.

3) I have a similar problem with the headlights. My headlights turn on manually, but they don't turn on like they are supposed to via automatic photo sensor. When turned on manually, the doors open and the headlights are on. When I manually turn off the headlights, the doors don't close. I've checked everything and I was told it may have something to do with the Body Control Module. I am not completely sure as this research is ongoing.
