ABS light always on

1995 Geo Prizm Lsi [1.8L + OD + Cruise] -ABS light comes on and stays on when driven. The system worked fine this past winter... But now I notice that while it still tests itself when the ignition is turned to ACC, the (clicking valves) sound is shorter now... And it doesn't test again when the vehicle is driven off, then ABS light comes on after a short time.

Also, there is a strange problem with the power steering: the steering wheel shakes at low speeds.
    (about 0-40 MPH)
And suspiciously, both of these problems happened about a month after having the tires rotated.

I called the place that did the balance and rotation... And they said that the ABS sensors are in the calipers, and that no special steps are required when rotating.

ABS light is not blinking, just steady. -The manual indicates this means the ABS is not working, but that the brake system [sans ABS] is OK.
Yes, I know it really needs pro diagnosis, I just don't have the cash for that.
What I hoped to gain from posting here, was that if I could fix it by replacing some simple component of the system. Too bad it's a GM part and not a Toyota part! (Toyota cruise control works peachy)

I wonder whether you can locate the diagnostic socket under the bonnet
Usually, when the ABS light is on, it's the speed sensor or faulty actuator but it is best to find out what code is stored on the ABS ECU first.
is there any code popping up?

Reasons:(best way of solving it)

You are dealing with a primary safety device in your vehicle. A device that can save your life. The SRS is not a system that can be worked on by a novice. Serious injury can occur if you do something wrong. The flashing light is an indication that something is wrong with the system. Take the car to you local GM dealer and have it repaired by a pro ASAP. Your life or a family members life may depend on it.

anything more post it ill clarify

ok its a GM part.i know wrong typing sorry.
best way is to use the scanner to pull the codes.
when your light stays on"it usually means you have regular braking, but not abs braking.

However, according to my thick service manual for my '95 prizm (900+ pgs), if the abs light flashes, regular braking has been degraded and you must service the brakes pronto,
BTW, the anti-lock brake section covers over
200 pgs! Bad news: The diagrams and charts get pretty technical, so
it's best left up to the pros to pull the codes and correctly diagnose
    the root of the problem
does your light sometimes goes off?
if so,it means it's possible there's a short somewhere in the system

ok just gimme 1 day time.ill fix your problem because i have to go through the manual completely.
    will return with results.

    i asked the mechanic.
He told me that it would be a more expensive fix
than it was worth, because the sensors would need to be replaced, just
to get the light to go out. better to let leave the light on, if your brakes are fine . it might just be a problem with the light itself.

Hi I am Vortash firstly the wheel vibration is most likely wheel balancing especially as you have just moved the wheels around , you need to get the wheels checked out for true ?, make sue they are not buckled or the tyre's seated badly .Check ball joints and wheel bearings for play .
The Abs is more serious it sounds like the sensors have been messed up .. if you move the wheels on an abs system without the ignition on you sometimes have brake management issues and it has to be reset .. Check your hydraulic oil levels and make sure no wires are dangling by the wheel sensors .. other than this there is not much that you can check without the assistance of a service center .Remember this is the brakes we are talking about and it could be the difference between life and something far less pleasant get them checked proffesionaly and don't risk an accident that may have been prevented Regards Vortash

My ABS light is staying on - 1995 Geo Prism

Your abs light is permanent. Most people don't bother to fix this, it is expensive, and your car is getting old. It means that the anti lock brake system has failed and needs repair. But your brakes still work fine, just don't have anti lock. So I'm not saying tape over the light on the dash, but.

My 1995 geo prizm lsi engine light came on it runs fine however it failed emmisions testing because nO was twice the limit what could it be

Hi:
You need to find out what is causing the check engine light, to go any further in fixing you car. Most likely you have a bad sensor, but you should go to a local auto parts store, as most of them, like auto zone, will scan your car for free and tell you what part is most likely bad. a little luck and you will get a cheap fix and pass emissions!

Yes a harmanic balancer from tha corolla is the same thing. I had to do the same thing with my 95 geo. It works out to be a lot cheaper buying for a toyota than a geo.

1995 Geo Prizm ABS always light on.

I have the feeling that the cv was replaced with one that didn't have a tone ring (part of the ABS) on it, or the tech neglected to put the sensor back in the knuckle.
Definitely take it back. Good luck!
