According to that website above, its your Accelerator Position Pedal Sensor. If you have already replaced it check your wiring harness.
Here is a website that for your wiring diagram for your 2005 Chevy Suburban.

SOURCE: I have a 2004 Chevy

Thanks for choosing Fixya and welcome to the site. It sounds like you have low compression in the engine. First, let me ask this. Is your check engine light on?

I have a1997 suburban 5.7 eng. hesitates and backfires on rapid acceleration.

check that your map sensor has direct (unregulated) vacuum. I don't believe that the purge solenoid can create that kind of problem.

How do you read the flashing check engine light codes on a 93 chrysler town & country?

Turn key on and off twice without starting engine. count flashes, their will be slight hesitation, make one digit after hesitation make second digit.(flashes 5 times hesitates flashes three times hesitates your code is 53) if it countiues to flash, its making second two digit code.

Can the mass air fow sensor cause hesitation when accelarating?

Yes it could be bad sometimes cleaning it works and sometimes it doesn't. You should wait for the light to come back on and get the code before you buy a MAF sensor as it is expensive. You need to replace your air filter because that is likely that the fibers came off of it. You need to use a high quality stock replacement air filter.

Hesitates when asked for speed

your check engine light would only come on usually when it has something to do with your emmision sensors like you oxygen sensor. well try checking your vacuum pressure and see if thats good or you can try and change your vacuum lines.
