1999 acura integra turns over but won't start. Replaced fuel pump and main relay, however the old fuel pump was good. Pump will not turn on.

Check a Chilton or Haynes manual for an impact switch that turns the pump off in a collision. Usually all you have to do is push a reset button on it. Once you find it. Also, make sure the main relay is the one, there may be a fuel pump relay, too..........

SOURCE: 1990 Acura Legend, location of main relay for fuel pump

looked it up online, looks like its in the underhood fuse box but couldn't get a good diagram that shows which relay number it is. the website i use is sort of dependent on the manufacturer, apparently acura did not feel like sharing that info. hope that helps

Spray some starter fuild and/or a little fuel inside the throttle; if it begins to run but stalls shortly thereafter, your fuel pump will have to be replaced.

Yes! You will have to drop the gas tank to remove and replace the fuel pump.

Your public library will have a manual covering your mechanical repair. Moreover, they have the best automotive shops online software called AllData. Take out the main relay and check the solder joints.
Reheat the solder joints if you see any tiny cracks.
You can also buy rebuilt main relay from eBay.

If the main relay does not solve the problem, you will need to check the distributor. Open the distributor cap and the rotor and see inside and make sure there are no oils leaked from the bottom side of the distributor through oil seal. Replace the distributor with a rebuilt or new one. There are many distributors listed at eBay.

My 1990 acura integra wants to start but won't turn over. A couple of times it has started then dies. I'd keep trying to start it until it finally turns over and starts without dying. Could the fuel filter...

It's hard to know whether or not this is a fuel issue or a spark issue. Here is where I'd start:

Have a mechanic check your fuel pressure to make sure you're getting fuel. An intermittent starting issue could point to a clogged fuel filter. This would be more likely than the pump.

With the age of the car, a faulty main relay could also be the culprit. They are notoriously bad on Acuras of that age. The solder joints break and they will work one minute and not allow the car to start the next. (starter will turn the engine over but not "catch")

If this problem happens more often when the weather is hot or cold, it points toward the main relay. Good luck.

Doesn't start

To put it simply it's either spark, fuel or compression. If the timing belt is okay (not broken or timing marks don't line up) and you have spark, you need to make sure you have clean gas and not water (from condensation) or air being sprayed out the injector nozzles. Try using quick start spray or even pouring some gas down the trottle body and see if it starts. If it does then check the relays, pump and lines. I've seen pin hole leaks in lines that caused symptoms similar to vapour lock. Check the
Main EFI relay (it's under the dash near the brake pedal) they usually stop working when the car is parked in the hot sun. Sometimes leaving the doors open, or pushing the car into the shade so it can cool down, will get the car to start again. I would get a distributor and a Main EFI relay from a junkyard. Because it's too expensive just swapping in new parts, and it's always a good idea to keep a spare distributor around as they are known to go bad on old Integra's.

Acura integra 1990 turns over fine but doesnt start

for you to check if it is the fuel pump, see if there is fuel running out of the hose if you remove the fuel filter. Another is to directly connect the pump to the battery. If the pump works that way, then it could be a efi relay issue which is found underneath the dash or a wiring issue.

go to the nearest parts house and get you the main efi relay and the problem will go away. It's under the driver side dash .It's kinda hard to get to but trust me when you turn the key on that relay is not cutting the fuel pump on .Be good as new hope this has helped you and good luck!!!!
