Welcome to TH440 troubles, get to your transmission shop or the salvage yard. Salvage yard will give you some money for a down payment for a new car. Transmission shop may cost you $1500 or more.

Don't shove more money into the car than it's worth. Get to a tranny shop and get a free estimate. Try not to listen to people that don't know what they are talking about.

will a 1997 old regency with the same engine just not supercharged work trany wise???

  • jagornot Nov 26, 2013

Not sure let me check it out and get back to you

  • jagornot Nov 26, 2013

Doesn't look good, supercharged has stronger internal parts. If you find a reputable transmission shop they may be able to fix the problem without overhauling it. Tranny shops like to make a lot of money though, I used to build transmissions for a living. Sounds like you may have some broken accumulator springs, common to this trans. Quite a bit of work without removing it. Have someone look at it and get back to me and I'll let you know if your getting ripped off.

SOURCE: transmission bad

Hi. the first thing here is to check the transmission fluid level. If its not low, i would schedule a transmission flush with the filter change. If the trans mission is still having a hard time shifting after the flush and filter change, you may have a bad shift solenoid that may need to be replaced. This will require you or the tech to drop the transmission pan. the solenoids are located there inside the pan and, if they are malfunctioning, the transmission with shift abnormally. while the pan is dropped, you or your mechanic should inspect the bottom of the pan for small metal fragment. if there is any type of metal gear fragments that are laying on the pan once it is visible, this will confirm major gear separation. You will have to rebuild this transmission at this time.

Please rate and god bless.

Your transmission fluid level is low . Per your owners manual . it's time to have fluid and filter changed. Also it's a good idea to have system flushed

After sitting in garage unused for 2 weeks 2008 gmc sierra 2wd starts fine, but ABS light stays on, in D clunks into gear then check engine light came on. 18000 miles. had no issues when parked

That is really low mileage for issues but clunking into gear is a symptom of a bad universal joint on your drive shaft. Does it clunk in D and R?

After warming the car up the car hesitates to go into drive, and the O/D lights flashes on and off during the time I am driving it.

This sounds like trany problems, check the fluid level first to make sure its full.the pump may be weak or low fluid as far as the od light that may be a bad soleniod, you will need to have the trany computer scanned for codes to see whats going on.

My audi A6 2.5T has been parked for about a month. Everything was fine when we parked it, but when I got in to drive it, I put my foot on the brake and pulled the handle from park to the drive position...

NO, it may be the linkage from the shifter to trany that broke off, or a bad selector switch that tells the trany and yoiu what gear you are in, there are a lot of electrionic in an audi so if that switch is bad it would cause this problem, also the linkage is very important, if you move the shifter and the cable is not connected to trany then the trany will not move its like you never left park,

Check the universal joints in the drive shaft to rear axel. 120,000 miles, its time for replacement. Safety hazard exist, check soon. Also transmission filter should have been serviced at 60,000 miles. Its time.

try changes the filter for the trany and put new trany oil in there! Look at the fluid when it comes out ans see if you see metal or if the old fluid looks like it has metal shavings in it!! You might have burnt the bands up in the trany

sounds like an electronic fault caused by the mini computer controling the gearbox functions, try another dealer as dealer only as good as the mechanics it employs.and like the old adage if you only pay peanuts you only get monkeys.but thinking about it ,their is a possibility of a piston sticking in the box thats controling the brake bands.buy a manual next time
